bluedragon1971
When are newbies ever going to learn the difference between burning a file to a disc and burning an image to a disc? You can simply double click on the dmg file in OS X to mount it like another drive, and from there install your program. Franzy
simple problem, simple solution It's actually so simple i dont know how to go about explaining it but i'll try: you need to burn the image file. disk utility comes w/ a feature that you can burn the image, not copy the file. burning the image will successfully burn the files encrypted in the image file to the dvd. Basically, just drag the .dmg file to the left side bar of the disk utility (where it says drives, partitions). Then, click burn on the top, and it will burn the image to the disk and i guarantee success if you succesfully do it this way. If you have any problems, just post em. -TiLT-
hdiutil convert /path/to/filename.dmg -format UDTO -o /path/to/savefile.iso Replace /path/to/filename.dmg with the path and name of the existing .DMG file, and replace /path/to/savefile.iso with the desired path and name for the converted image. Ritchie
hdiutil convert /path/to/filename.dmg -format UDTO -o /path/to/savefile.isoReplace /path/to/filename.dmg with the path and name of the existing .DMG file, and replace /path/to/savefile.iso with the desired path and name for the converted image. You Can do the same thing from Disk utility in GUI.. Although it's going to be saved as an .CDR and NOT .iso.. same thing... My opinion Install Toast and burn the damn thing Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13237-burning-dmg-in-windows/#findComment-85086 Share on other sites
bluedragon1971
well dont call me a newbie, because i tryed this and it says in osx that there was a codec error so it wont mount, anyone help me with this. I was writing programs on a TI-99/4A before Windows or MacOS even existed, so compared to me, most people on this board are newbies as far as computers go. As for the error, it sounds like you either got a bad burn or the image was bad to begin with. Try copying the image file from the disc you burned to your hard drive before trying to mount it. If you can't get it to copy, then it was probably a bad burn, if it copies but won't mount, then it's probably a bad image. fishkorp
in my experience the only ways to burn DMG files in Windows (which is what you're asking) is to either (a) use UltraISO to convert the DMG to ISO or ( use MacDrive. not sure what the point is, Final Cut version you got isn't Universal and won't run unless you have a PowerPC Mac. 5.1 was just announced today and is the first Universal version that will run on Intels.
