Reveeen
So, tell me: How high is "up"? (I am going to assume that you know what a refurbished computer is, and *wonder* how anyone can predict the availability of such things, or would you prefer some "BS story"?) Reveeen
six months As I tried to point out, there is no fixed time, if Apple ships a lot of junk, or there are a few customers unhappy with their purchases (returning them), then I would expect sooner, rather than later. But at this time all anyone can do is guess. Heck........... even if there are a lot of returns, I would not expect a steady supply of parts in the "pipeline" (to "refurbish") before the 1st of the year, the bulk of the parts going to build "new" for Christmas. All you could do is get your brother to check DAILY for a return in NY.

theicecold
I was lookint at amazon and the prices are a little cheaper besides, depending on the state you don't have to pay tax in NY you have to, but my brother is goingo to california nexta week if he buys there will he still have to pay tax? Reveeen
Typically: anywhere you purchase a thing, be it a computer, or whatever, UNLESS you ship (meaning: pay to ship) out of the state, you gotta pay tax. When your brother takes the computer out of the state (him being a non-resident) you can claim a tax refund from the state, by filling in the forms, submitting them, and waiting. If the application for tax refund is made from another state the tax becomes payable in that state. Unless you are a "native American" you gotta pay tax. theicecold
what do you mean by, ship out of the state? he's goingo to get back to brazil after california when you get here you have to pay 60% of tax but it's very easy to net get spoted with tha mcbook so let's asume he is in california an buy the macbook from amazon, it will ship and and than he will get to brazil will he still have to pay the tax when he purchase it? wingrunr21
I was lookint at amazon and the prices are a little cheaperbesides, depending on the state you don't have to pay tax There is no sales tax in Delaware and Florida. Delaware is reasonably close to New York. Ask him to drive there to buy the mac.

Ok, so if the computer is bought in California he either: 1)pays the tax, then gets the tax back by filling out the forms, and submitting them from Brazil or: 2) he gets the computer shipped to Brazil, dodging the California tax (but paying shipping) and if Brazil is anything like where I live (Canada), when the computer arrives there you pay the tax (+ any duty) when you get it. As was suggested: buy the damm thing in a no tax state and smuggle it in.
