Vexel Posted October 13, 2008 Share Posted October 13, 2008 Okay folks, :Edit: Make sure your USB key is formatted as "Mac OS Extended Journaled" first! (Otherwise, it can't clone.) It took me a while to figure this out.. so, I thought I would share with everyone. First, create your custom .ISO with the Slimbuild Application from ~Galaxy - Slimbuild Then, mount it. Clone it with Disk Utility to your USB Key. You do this by dragging the mounted images to the source/destination lines in Disk Utility's Restore section. Choose "Erase Destination." Then, Restore. Disk Utility will do its thing, then, you should see your USB Key pop up as a complete clone of your custom .ISO. Now, in order to make it bootable, you must download Chameleon. Run Chameleon and choose your USB key as your destination! Voila, completely bootable custom USB key made with OS X! This way, I can use the USB Key and the clone of my Leo disk to do an install on my internal drive. I'll report how this goes. I picked up a 16gb sandisk cruzer, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to boot OSX from it! Do oyu also have osx itself on the USB stick? I've been trying to get it down to less than 6gb... Because the usb KEY have a limited write possiblity. I tried it but now it's complaining about not being able to find a kernel. Do you have to modify the com.apple.Boot.plist? Maybe add the available HD's or partitions? I made one both with the tool by chameleon and by cloning a boot-cd that works on my PC and couldn't get either one to start. Seriously, knowing this would have saved me several hours.
