arcticsheep
Which motherboard right now is the most compatible for mac os? I'm looking at the GA-EP45-DS3R which fits perfectly in my price range... but will it be 100% compatible? is there a better one for about the same price? MaaseyRacer
If you can find one the P5K-VM and it runs flawless, and it was super easy to set up. P35 boards are pretty easy to set up. The GA-EP45-DS3R is a great board. I have one, but it was not easy to get going as it has issues, sound mainly. I am looking into other solutions. peach-os
sorry......but can´t confirm that guys I´ve set up meanwhile two machines with the GA-EP45-DS3. very easy - a perfect board! the asus p45 has some problems with the bios, but there is even a solution for that. i would recommend you the GA-EP45-DS3 - here a small and easy help that I wrote for this mainboard http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry883119
arcticsheep
thanks guys! what's the difference between the DS3R and DS3? The thing is my store doesn't sell the DS3, only DS3R and L I have a P5Q right now and it is impossible to get started.. that's why I'm exchanging. @peach: which osx86 did you use? kalyway? EDIT: nvm.. didn't read your link Other recommendations people?
krrr
the gigabyte MB in my sig is perfect. i think its too old now but working smooth like butter (but cant update to 10.5.5 though. so stuck on iatkos 10.5.4)
peach-os
the DS3R has one more gigabit lan, firewire and raid (that´s probably what the R stands for). I would try to find the DS3 in an other shop. it has the same price as the L but the same features as the R version without raid - firewire and two lan´s. btwy....didn´t you try kabyl´s modded bios for the P5Q? http://osrom.net/biosmod/
arcticsheep
Thanks I tried the modded bios already... it didn't work... I can't buy the motherboard anywhere else or it will void my warranty which is for 4 years. I need the shop to replace it... Anyway the DS3R seems okay. i think I'll give it a shot any other peoples' input is still appreciated
