If you can find one the P5K-VM and it runs flawless, and it was super easy to set up. P35 boards are pretty easy to set up. The GA-EP45-DS3R is a great board. I have one, but it was not easy to get going as it has issues, sound mainly. I am looking into other solutions.

sorry......but can´t confirm that guys ;) I´ve set up meanwhile two machines with the GA-EP45-DS3. very easy - a perfect board! the asus p45 has some problems with the bios, but there is even a solution for that.

i would recommend you the GA-EP45-DS3 - here a small and easy help that I wrote for this mainboard

thanks guys!

what's the difference between the DS3R and DS3? The thing is my store doesn't sell the DS3, only DS3R and L

I have a P5Q right now and it is impossible to get started.. that's why I'm exchanging.

@peach: which osx86 did you use? kalyway? EDIT: nvm.. didn't read your link :thumbsup_anim:

Other recommendations people?

the DS3R has one more gigabit lan, firewire and raid (that´s probably what the R stands for).

I would try to find the DS3 in an other shop. it has the same price as the L but the same features as the R version without raid - firewire and two lan´s.

btwy....didn´t you try kabyl´s modded bios for the P5Q? http://osrom.net/biosmod/

Thanks

I tried the modded bios already... it didn't work...

I can't buy the motherboard anywhere else or it will void my warranty which is for 4 years. I need the shop to replace it...

Anyway the DS3R seems okay. i think I'll give it a shot

any other peoples' input is still appreciated
