Manage your remote Windows computer right from OS X with free Remote Desktop client

Microsoft has released a free Remote Desktop client for OS X. Use it just exactly like the regular Windows based Remote Desktop to manage other Windows computers on your network

Download it here (M$ website):

RDP for OS X

Also, in order to be able to open files in .sit format, download Stuffit Expander here:

Stuffit Expander

Above software has been fully tested on my $300.00 hackintosh (running OS X 10.4.3). I was able to connect to my Windows 2003 PDC without any problems...

Edit: Before using the RDP Client for the first time, make sure to go to Options first and then specify the resolution and display color mode. The default mode is quite ugly...

its also not a univeral binary so is quite slow to start up and the experience compared to using the windows RDP client is a lot slower and a bit choppier.

I doubt MS will release a universal binary for this - and this was released back in 2004 so not really new news but still a handy app.

Hmm,

Thanks for the info. :)

I must be doing something right as I do not experience any slowdowns at all...

It just feels "weird" to go back and forth between OS X and Windows XP or 2003 without rebooting

It is RDC, not RDP, it stans for Remote Desktop Connection, and it was released years ago, I used it with my PowerBook to control my PCs at home.

But it is a shame that is no Universal Binary yet.

You're both right, RDP stands for Remote Desktop Protocol, and when we're talking about any app that supports RDP connections, then that term should be used really especially when someone like me comes in searching for it in google :smoke:

Cheers,
