hey - checking back in. I can get 10.5.2 up and running (from dvd). Problem is, Everytime I try to update i get pwned in the face, and have to reinstall.

Got everything but audio and wifi working in 10.5.2. Problem is I'd really like 10.5.3+

Quick question - after I install any of the updates, it seems like my sudo pw has changed? If I log in (sudo) before the updates, I can still do stuff, but any idea why this would be(before restart)?

Also, after updates, i load up with update -v, but then after that I get link/load errors like crazy. hmm.

Update:

to run an even cooler Z96Js, install the new IntelEnhancedSpedStep.kext

You need a vanilla or sleep kernel, don;t use a speedstep kernel with this kext

Also the ACPI p-tables of the Z96Js BIOS are broken. To get proper cooling, you'll need to insert p-tables data in the kext Info.plist.

As an example, for a T7400 cpu

modify the file /System/Library/Extensions/IntelEnhancedSpeedStep.kext/Contents/Info.plist

change:

                       <key>PStateTableDisabled</key>
                       <array>
                               <array>
                                       <integer>1733</integer>
                                       <integer>1100</integer>
                               </array>

(Solved. I have created my own GFX-String.Now the problem is I can't change the resolution.)

Hi rickdekart,

I studied your post for the X1600 71c5. But I can't make my X1600 71c5 working with QE & CI. My mac version is 10.5.5 updated from Ideneb 1.5.4. My X1600 working perfect under 10.5.2. After I move ATIinject and ATINDRV and OpenGL.Framework to 10.5.5, the QE & CI works. Ilife and Iwork works. However when I enter any games, it return to a black screen. But I can hear the sound. I guess that my driver is not compatible with 10.5.5.

After search the solution on the net. I found your post. I also tried your Com.Apple.Boot.plist. But no QE & CI. COuld you help me to make a Com.APple.Boot.plist with my EDID? Thanks.

Hey that was my laptop from 2 years ago. I never sorted it, but apparently there is a fix! Somebody pm'ed me with the details. I gave up on OSX, as windows was working fine.

I have just started to try to get 10.5.2 up and running. I was getting the ACPI_SMC kernel panic from the install dvd. I patched the iso with a ppf off of the demonoid. With -x, the dvd booted then installed. Now the install hangs on ACPI_SMC when booting. I have never got it to boot. I downloaded the IOplatformPlugin.zip from the start of this thread, but I do not know how to get this in my install, and would it solve the booting problem?

i'm using leo4all v3 10.5.2

just about to update ideneb 10.5.5... maybe :unsure:

I'm trying to get the video card working on my Asus Z96Jm laptop. I think it's the same as the Z96Js cause I have the X1600 mobility and even our EDID is the same (I checked using softmccs in windows XP). I installed using the new iPC osx86 10.5.6 and everything else is working. I tried your method to get the x1600 working and I just get a blue screen on boot up. I checked the com.apple.Boot.plist and installed ATINDRV and AppleEFIRuntime kexts but still get the light blue screen whenever I boot up. I tried VNCing to the laptop when it's on the blue screen through a macbook but I can't connect. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
