Ok I want to install OSX in a HD that I have installed. I downloaded the MacOSX_10.4.4DVDPATCHED_Myz.iso

I read somewhere that I just need to put the dvd on the dvd rom and restart, same way you installXP. But when I boot I get a grey screen with apple logo and 'no' symbol, check the image.

I need a little help here.

I have an HP Pavilion Media Center a1340n PC

Intel® Pentium®4 processor 640 with HT Technology; 3.2GHz

1.0GB DDR2 PC2-4200 SDRAM memory

250GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA hard drive

80 GB ATA hard drive (I want to install OSX here)

RADEON X1600 Pro

When did you get this ISO??

I recently got the same thing happening.. When I try to install the iso (mine gets a little further) when it verifyes the disc it errors out. I am currently re burning the DVD again.. Try running with -v to see what you get..

I am curious if this a bum ISO

I've heard that some people have had issues with particular media used to burn the .ISO file with. However, that to me doesn't make much sense.

I had the same problem KoL, what I did to fix it was to set my DVD burner as a slave and my PATA drive as master and connected them appropriately with an IDE cable and then the "still waiting for root device" {censored} disappeared. Keep trying to install in Verbose (-v) mode just so if you have any problems you can post'em here. Let us know if this helped.

Seems to be a problem chipset : ATI RADEON Xpress 200

Try the VMware install here: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=11816

If you don't know your hardware, try everesthome220.exe, freeware. http://www.google.com/search?q=everesthome220.exe Use the Report-Report Wizard-System Summary only to generate a html summary that you can post as an attachment

Alternatively, use Mac terminal 'ioreg -l' to see a list of devices.

So I got OS X installed on my machine... Here are some things that i noticed...

Sound is sketcy..

Nic card does not work

Video Card is sketcy...

Not sure if it is because of the install CD... Any Suggestions?

1. Try editing the plist from AppleAC97Audio.kext with the correct vendor and device ids for your soundcard

2. Try installing the IONetworkingFamily.kext from 10.4.3 (it can be found in certain places that are not allowed to be metioned around here if you dont already have an old 10.4.3 install)

3. What graphics card are you using? If it is Nvidia you wont get any accelerationbut give _np's new beta Nvidia driver a go it will at least let you change resolution and refresh rate

I need to try scousi enabling ATI x200 Southbridge??? or the openati thing at the bottom of the post here http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=11816????

So I ghosted my computer back to WinXP. I am going to attempt to put OSX back on it. My Video card is a ATI Radeon 9700. Should be supported but it seemed that the graphics would get sketchy from time to time. There would be blocks of screen missing once a folder or the mouse moved.

Thanks for the other tips.
