Zorviny
After a recent experience with a Dell Mini I am wondering if I may have solved my problem. I don't have the time this week to test my theory out but here goes: I wonder if my install problems of Leopard on my studio are due tot he fact that I updated the bios after I received the product? Can those with a working studio OSX post there bios Version? joeblough
has anyone installed 10.5.8 on a studio hybrid? i'm currently on 10.5.6 and i'm wondering if there are any particular problems with the studio hybrid and 10.5.8. like do we need any further dsdt patches, or enablers/disablers? i tried this on a scratch USB disk. everything seems to work, except i can't get accelerated video at all. the old kexts from 10.5.6 don't seem to work, and a variety of x3100 drivers and natit.kext i've found don't work either, including the patcher that's supposed to patch the stock kexts. mainly though it's unusable because my display is 1440x900 and i need the drivers to work or i can't select this resolution. the screen is too blurry in vesa mode. i think that the majority of x3100 kexts and natits out there are hacked to work with notebooks, since most hacks that have the x3100 are notebooks... i'm pretty sure what natit is injecting is just wrong for the studio hybrid. i'm just lucky that it works on 10.5.7, but even that is probably a fluke. it only works when you boot without the display attached. if anyone's got the x3100 drivers working on 10.5.8 please post here... I've got 10.5.8 running with full acceleration. Basically, follow the guide on here for the retail 10.5.6 install. Then run the combo update for 10.5.8. Once it completes, DO NOT reboot, go ahead and delete the AppleIntelGMA and Integrated Drivers and repair permissions, as directed in various threads. After reboot, reinstall the x3100 drivers that were posted in the threads and all will be well. Also, I used the DSDT patcher instead of the GUI. With the latter I received many errors. I'm going to give Snow Leopard a shot next. No real luck with Snow Leopard, can't seem to get it to boot, although it installs just fine. 10.5.8 is rock solid for me, but I am going to troubleshoot the Snow Leopard problem. Seems to hang at boot, stating some kind of a ACPI_SMCCTRL_LOOP, not sure if it's the problem though. ficanas
HI, I made it! Specs: Dell Studio Hybrid, Intel X3100, 4 Go Ram, 1920x1080 Dell Display. I didn't read the whole topic... Retail install, from a laptop USB stick install (EEEPC 1005 HA). Everything works quite of the box, even the TSSTcorp T633A DVD toaster THE TRICK --> you have to connect thru VGA to find a valid display or use the 64 bit chameleon kernel's flag x64_86. I made a few DSDT editing... I would be glad to share my experience, this tiny beast is a really good one! 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/126916-mac-os-x-on-dell-studio-hybrid/page/3/#findComment-1665300 Share on other sites
