Blarneystone
Hi, My hackintosh is up and running great. I'd like to buy a license to support Apple, even though they don't want me to run OS X on my PC. Are there any instructions on installing a license into a Kalyway build of Leopard? peach-os
read this http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...8606&st=33# change the serial in com.apple.boot.plist Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/124880-id-like-to-buy-a-license-can-i-install-it/#findComment-882980 Share on other sites
Blarneystone
Thanks... I should have also asked if by changing the serial to a store bought would let me use the apple updates without hacking them in? peach-os
Thanks... I should have also asked if by changing the serial to a store bought would let me use the apple updates without hacking them in? it depends on your system, setup and the release - not on the serial. for example: 10.5.2 and 10.5.3 updates needed a workaround - 10.5.4 update could be done online. only issue: if you change your serial it could happen that you have to license some of your apps once more. Blarneystone
I appreciate it. Hey, I am running Kalyway vanilla 10.5.2 - so it would be safe for me to run the system update to 10.5.4 directly from the software update utility on the mac? Sorry for the newb questions... thanks for the help... peach-os
3Dman is right - online it´s only possible from 10.5.3 to 10.5.4, but not from 10.5.2 the included 10.5.3 would install the AppleIntelCpuManagement.kext which crashes the system. Blarneystone
nahh... I'm a developer and wanted to support apple is all. However, I don't want to go out and buy a mac because I don't have room for it. P.S. I also thought that by registering properly, then I could do the auto updates. evan_p_g
If you don't have much space buy a mac mini. I'm about to do this and buy a switcher so the PC and mini can share monitor, mouse and keyboard.
