phanguy
It's been a fun ride, but I've now decided to part with my hackintosh! I've learned so much from this machine, but now I've decided that I'd like a Mac mini. The specs of my hackintosh are in my signature but there are a few other details that aren't included. The case for my hackintosh is a G5 case. I obviously had to modify it in order to use the PC components. Everything is pretty solid inside though. Install originally with Tiger using a 10.4.6 Kalyway disc. Once Leopard was hacked for osx86 I used a disc for that. Sorry I don't remember what the release for that was, but I do know that because of my choice of hardware that everything worked instantly. No need to modify anything for Leopard to work. Tiger was a different thing though! I know the processor isn't a dual core, but I gotta tell you that 3.6 ghz is still really kicking! Internal blutooth and wireless was great to have. The GPU inside allowed for all the great Expose effects to work great and, at least under Tiger, allowed for dual screens! I did get the power button in front to work to turn on the computer, but I never got around to making the other front ports functional. Though the firewire card I installed had a firewire port inside of it and I had the intention to attach that to the front port. The only thing I am NOT including in this sale is the 500 GB hard drive. I need to hold onto that because I don't have anywhere else to store my data for the time being. But the 160 GB hard drive will be included! I also installed a pretty intense heatsink to help cool and try to keep things quiet. I think it worked out pretty well for my needs at least. Please if you have any further questions just let me know. Also I can do pictures if it's wanted. As for price. I'm looking to get rid of this for 500. I hope this doesn't seem like too much, but I can tell you I've poured a lot more money than that into this machine. I also just got my hands on an iBook G4 with a broken LCD. The iBook works great besides the LCD. I know for a fact that the LCD and the inverter need replacement. Other than that I can try to figure out the specs on the machine, but from what I think it has: 1ghz+ cpu, over 512 mb RAM for sure, DVD burner, and I believe a 30-40 gig hard drive. I can try to figure all these details out for sure for anyone interested. It also comes with an extra battery. Both batteries still hold great charges. Around 1.5-2 hours each. Also includes original Panther install discs. Best offer for this one. Thanks for reading! Love this place.

durkadurka
US Can you give me more info about the desktop processor? Is that just a hyper threaded processor, or is it a dual core? What socket type is it? Would you be interested in just selling the modified case? I am assuming it would fit any standard atx board?

If I do sell just the case then I'd have to sell it for quite a bit because the PSU is really really attached to the bottom to ensure that it doesn't get knocked around. Kane Adams
Why did you stay with Tiger and not use leopard?
phanguy
Why did you stay with Tiger and not use leopard? on my hackintosh? only due to the fact that i couldn't dual screen. i actually, at least back then, needed dual screening a lot. could never get it working with leopard. i mean maybe it works now... but i dunno? i haven't tried it again since then cause tiger worked anyway. phanguy
What's an inverter? Is it in the screen or in the...other part? the "other" part. more often than not it's the only other part inside of the display besides the lcd itself. Guest squirrelman
If you'd consider selling just the modified G5 case i'd be very interested as long as it will be able to accept another motherboard. What would you sell if for?
