Hey everyone, just a first note to say how wonderful i think this project is, and how helpful the members of the forum are.

I just need a bit of advice on how to update my installation of mac osx86. Currently, i have installed Tiger 10.4.1, and i'm aware it is an old version. Could someone tell me how i could update this installation to the latest tiger version available for osx86? I have tried the 2 script way, making a "backup.sh and restore.sh" but i get an error upon execution of the script.

Thanks for anyone to reply,

Liam

Thanks for replying, i have corrected the 2 script problem, and its now fine. Problem is now, when i click on the software update, it seems to come up with a message box saying "No updates found". When i click on the software update from the apple in the top left corner, it says the same thing. I have tried manually installing updates from the apple website, downloading updates for 10.4 (tried both combo and normal updates, for intel" and as soon as it finishes verifying the files, it says "this update is not needed". I'm running 10.4.1 so im sure these updates are needed. Any advice?

Yours,

Liam

1/ download 10.4.11 combo update from apple website

2/ use your backup script

3/ run combo update (intel version!)

4/ don't hit restart at the end and use your restore script

5/ get 8.9.1 kernel and some updated kext from my pack - posted here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=878869

6/ replace mach file ( / ) and kexts (/System/Library/Extensions) with those from zip file

7/ delete extesnions casch files

8/ repair permissions using diskutil

9/ reboot and pray :(
