Hello everyone, I am in need of major help from all of u. I have been trying to install osx on my pc for over 6 months now but had no success watsoever in doing so :( I dont know wats causing all the problems i encounter but no matter wat osx i tried, iatkos of any version, as well as kalyway wont install at all. I will have random error to restart pc, freeze up upon startup or even half way through installation. It's really getting frustrating but im beginning to feel dat im the only one with no success installing osx :)

Now wat could it be? could it really be the motherboard, or is it the processor dat i have, or is it the options i chose under customize? i cant be dat unlucky with osx n not be able to succeed watsoever.

u can find my specs in my sig. please guide me or advice me as to wat i should do to have a better chance of experiencing osx on my pc.

hi guys, i understand dat the nforce is a hard chipset to work on but its not impossible to install OS X on it. I mean if it is impossible, why would mysticus go the extra mile to explain step by step wat to do? Gujal, thnx for the link. dat was the guide i had used 6 months ago to no success. Back then, i manage to successfully installed OS X once on the 680i but was unable to boot into it.

This time, I manage to boot into OS X but for some reason it stops at the gray apple loading screen. I tried going through -v but i forgot wat was the last thing it said. No matter wat i do, its not working. any suggestions?

Hi there,

From your system

ase: Thermaltake Armor+

Mobo: EVGA Nforce 680i SLI

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Quad Core Q6600 2.4ghz OC to 3.80Ghz

GPU: EVGA Geforce 9800 GX2 1GB

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tracer Black PC2 6400 DDR2 800 4GB

CPU Cooling: Water Cooling [Vortex XP aka DTEK Fuzion, 2 x Danger Den Black Ice Extreme 2 , Tygon 1/2"]

PSU: Cooler Master Real Power Pro1000

HDD: 500GB & 250GB & 160GB (WD sata)

O.D: 20X Samsung DVD-R(Sata) 16X Benq DVD DL(IDE)

nothing should cause any issues apart from getting the right video driver kext etc. for your Geforce 9800 GX2 GFX card......but after the initial install of OS X follow instructions here......

I know you have looked here before

BUT if you follow Mysticus C*'s guides carefully they should get you going OK...his guides and updater packages have got me up to running 10.5.4 on a 650i MOBO with a Q6600..... :D

For further clarification on each step read the Kalyway 10.5.2 (IMHO the preferred choice because of giving no SUIDs errors) and iATKOSv2.0i 10.5.2 install guides in my blog......

.......other forum readers and members have posted saying that it helped them install OS X successfully on their nForce 680i MOBOs....both Kalyway 10.5.2 (see here posts by icemantaz) and iATKOS v2.0i 10.5.2 (see posts here on pages 81 and 82 by sQuadron)...... :hysterical:

My suggestions as well as reading thread Posts 1 and 2 CAREFULLY and SLOWLY, as well as my install guide in my blog, are as follows:

Check your BIOS settings carefully against recommended settings for OS X....

Double check MD5 checksums.....

Do not install audio and graphics drivers during initial install of OS X.....see my guide Parts 1 and 2....

Drop CPU speed back to stock 2.4 GHz speed just for the install stage

Do not OC your RAM

Disconnect your SATA DVDRW temporarily

Install from you PATA DVDRW

Install OS X on its own HDD

Use MBR rather than GUID (especially if planning to multiboot)......others will not agree but MBR causes people fewer issues than GUID.....and try EasyBCD 1.7.2 for multi-booting......

Dual-booting Vista and OS X Leopard :

Procedure A - If you are one of the 90% of people/systems EasyBCD will work for:

Assuming you have a bootable OS X installation.....you now need to set up EasyBCD 1.7.2 in Vista.....See http://neosmart.net/wiki/display/EBCD/Mac+OS+X and do the following and report what happens....

Stage A.

1. Run EasyBCD, and navigate to the "Add/Remove Entries" button and click.

2. In the "Add an Entry" window, Select the "Mac OS X" tab from the tabs at the top of the window.

3. Click on "Type" box and in the drop-down list, select "Generic x86 Hardware"

4. If you wish to change the name from the default "NST Mac OS X," to say "iATKOS Leopard" or whatever name you choose, then do so now.

5. Click on "Add Entry".

Stage B.

1. Navigate to the "Advanced Options" button and click.

2. Under Advanced Options: select Run in SOS mode and click "Apply Settings" button.

3. Close EasyBCD 1.7.2 window.

Now reboot your PC, and select "iATKOS Leopard" (or whatever name you chose) from the Vista bootloader.

OS X should begin to boot immediately.

What if:

The screen turns black and a few seconds later I'm at the Vista boot menu once again.

Press F8 once during the black-screen period. The Mac OS X menu should pop-up and give you the option of booting into OS X.

I get a "HFS+ Partition Error" when I select OS X from the Vista bootloader... HELP!

Within the Diagnostics Center select the "Repair OS X HFS+ Partition Error" repair button, and hit the Attempt Recovery button, select your OS X drive and partition numbers from the list (drives start counting from 0, partitions start at 1), i.e. Drive 0 Partition 2, then press OK.

Procedure B - If you are NOT one of the 90% of people/systems EasyBCD will work for:

Try the procedure outlined here using tboot.....
