Many users, including myself, have been complaining that one of the major mistakes in releasing openSUSE 11.0 was the lack of KDE3.5 Live CDs.

Now the issue has been solved by the community:

They also include all the latest official updates.

Did you know if if they integrate also KDE3 to openSUSE 11 DVD? It would be nice a DVD release with KDE3!

Yes, the DVD is no problem. It comes with KDE3.5, KDE4.0, Gnome, Xfce4 and others.

Is this safe? You never know......

Meaning that it will destroy your data, hijack your computer and ultimately destroy it? :D

Only joking, but it is open source after all, and this is Carlos Gonçalves:

*yawn*

Just use the DVD, it's got GNOME 2.22, KDE 3.5/4, as well as Xfce and basic X. I don't trust community repackaging of big distros, there's almost always bugs/problems introduced (this is why Ubuntu is so buggy, and nothing will ever fix it: it's rooted in the attitude of "hack Debian to pieces until it does what we want it to do").

Yes, InorganicMatter, we know that, but what do we do with users (mainly new ones) who insist on trying LiveCDs?

OpenSUSE 11.0 KDE4 LiveCD was a total disaster with new users, it gave them a totally wrong impression.

It depends. OpenSUSE is a community project after all (or it should be). So is Debian, without any doubt. But look at the quality of Debian.

KDE 3 is as ugly as sin, and KDE 4 is a major step forward - why the hate? :)

I don't know if it is a matter of hatred and look. OpenSUSE 11.0 comes with KDE4.04, which is very far from being ready and usable. At the very best we must wait for 4.2, but personally I believe we must wait much longer than that.

Besides 3.5 is very "Windows-like", so people feel immediately at home.

I'm a guy sold at the Gnome, either I like KDE3 which is more stable and reliable than the damn KDE4. The fourth means for me: ugly, {censored}, not reliable for 5 cents. When I'm saying I don't like this or that, it's because either swear and smash my pc or I install one time and I format it after 5 minutes...
