Noes
Ok i know there are already a lot of topics concerning the dual boot options. I want to sum up all options in this topic. I can't get my own setup to work. I have XP installed and OSX 10.4.4/5 I read somewhere to use acronis OS selector. and so i did. My computer restarts then goed to acronis and gives me the "processing please wait" message. This is where im stuck. It will not continue. Boot cd's dont work, only when i disable my Hd in the bios. You do have the option of pressing Esc or F6 before the Acronis boot menu, but it is unresponsive for me; both USB and PS2 keyboard have been tried. What do i do now. I read about bypassing acronis. I will try that first. Then i am planning to use the darwin boot method where you place the chain0 in the root of c: and add a line to the boot.ini. Are there nay other options or can somebody help me fix this annoying error of acronis? marliwahoo
I have had pretty good luck with acronis, though I had a similar problem once. I was able to use f6 to get around the problem. When I did get into windows I disabled acronis and did a re-install of acronis. Everything worked well. urig-herb
Acronis is super slow on my system. It pauses like 30 seconds on that Acronis start message. Maybe you did not wait long enough? The chain0 method didn't work on my system because the darwin bootloader defaulted to the xp partition and I had to choose OS X manually each time. Is there a way to configure the defalt boot system in the darwine boot loader? Noes
I left the house and i was pending for about 6 hours. Must be enough in my opinion. Acronis is just not working right now. Any chain0 experiences from anybody ? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11989-dual-boot-options/#findComment-75311 Share on other sites

basara
I have the same problem. I have a notebook (Asus W3V) so it is partitioned as follows: 1st part WinXP (pri) 2nd part Data (ext) 3rd OSx86 (pri) I tried chain0 but gives me chain booting error. I tried Acronis Suite 10 and OS selector, but it stuck at 'processing' I tried setting OSX as active partition but gives me something like 'invalid operating system' The only way I can boot into OSX is thru the DVD (10.4.4/10.4.5 Install DVD) Anyone with a solution? Oh by the way, is there a fix for the audio? Currently have no sound. Thanks! thrunner
Please be aware that some tools (such as GoBack, Disk Doctor, etc.) included into Norton Systemworks package lock the access to your hard drive for all other applications, so Acronis OS Selector will be not able to operate with the hard drives. The_Sequencer
Hi! I´ve got a question about the chain0 loader. Can chain0 find a external USB installation of Mac OS X 10.4.5? The USB Ports supported and I can choose BIOS USB Legacy support. Now I will install OS X on a Hard Drive via VMWare to native guide and then put the HDD to a USB storage, cause I have not enough place in my case - I have to unplug the DVD Drive for the OS X installation. mifki
I used all of the above mentioned methods and none of them worked for me. But then i installed LILO and i now have a tri boot working perfectly, no messy configuration at all. P.S: I use SUSE 10, WIN XP, and MAC OS X 10.4.6 all on one harddisk Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11989-dual-boot-options/#findComment-104600 Share on other sites
abicab
I have the same problem, system is configured mostly like basara's (1st part WinXP (pri) 2nd part Data (ext) 3rd OSx86 (pri) and I cannot get trough the os selector at boot, both F6 and ESC bring me to a stuck "processing" page. I didn't do any backup before running os selector (trusted blindly the instructions) Is there a way I can safely "overwrite" OS selector and boot at least to my XP? it's on a NTFS partition. Also, KIKO can you let me know how you did setup and configure LILO or point me to instructions??? Thanks!!
