nephew
Hi everyone, I’ve managed to install the Kalyway 10.5.1 DVD onto my P4 HT Compaq Presario. However during the boot I get to the grey screen with apple logo and spinney thing - then my screen will go into power saving mode and turn off!?! Its a LG Flatron m1717A I tried the -V command in setup and after scrolling lines of text the screen will again, turn off Could this be due to an incorrect selection when selecting drivers when installing? Any help would be appreciated. Regards Nephew Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/118323-screen-turns-off/ Share on other sites
Suzie's Soliloquy
Your graphics card is picking an unsupported output mode for your monitor, try booting with -X and installing a better matched set of drivers Good luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/118323-screen-turns-off/#findComment-838297 Share on other sites
nephew
Hi Levkovski, Thanks for the reply my PC has an ATI Radeon 9600 Series graphics card. So I selected the ATI drivers from the "customize" list when installing. Im now on my 5th install trying out different combinations of drivers although im not holding much hope Im a total computer noob so without some noobie step by step advice i feel this is all above me after reading some of the terminal commands and all that... Is it worth trying the iAtkos ISO? Is there anything else I can do? Thanks Regards Nephew Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/118323-screen-turns-off/#findComment-838332 Share on other sites
nephew
Hi Everyone, Im still having problems with my Kalyway 10.5.1 - I'm on about my 10 install with different combinations of drivers and 9 times out of 10 I get the "unbootable OS" (Is that right? The little white flashy dash top left?) So currently I'm installing again using the drivers I used the second time so fingers crossed I'll be able to boot in safe mode. I thought id post more info about my system for the experts to cast their eyes over if they wouldnt mind... As said above I run a stock Compaq Presario s6800UK desktop. The graphics card is an ATI Redeon 9600 Series card. There are pretty good details of my mother board here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...cname=c00022505 So far, almost, every time i've installed OS X it finishes with the green tick - the first time I left GUID as the default option and the install failed. These are the drivers I chose from the Kalyway list. When these are selected it'll hang at the apple grey screen with spinner or the monitor will go to sleep... {Bold are the ones I chose} Vanilla_Kernel_ACPIPlatform Vanilla_Kernel Vanilla_ACPI_Fix SSE2_System Video_Drivers NATIT_ATIcards NATIT_gfnvidia NVINJECT_gfnvidia_desktop NVINJECT_nvidia_laptop Soundcards_drivers Azalia_AD1988b HDA_ALC882 (p5w_dh) AZALIA_out HDA_ALC883 (DS3) Network_drivers Realtek_wifi_1.4.5_UI Bootloaders EFI BOOT_efi_mbr BOOT_efi_guid Did I choose the right ones? Is this the cause of my problem? Can anyone suggest the "correct" combination (or a working one at least)? Thanks in advance Nephew Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/118323-screen-turns-off/#findComment-838732 Share on other sites
Gujal
DO not choose any Graphics Drivers during install. This will force Leopard to run in VESA mode. Once you got the basic bits running correctly, you can add the graphics driver later. MacNutty
Try searching drivers for your graphics card. Netkas / Nvinject may help. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/118323-screen-turns-off/#findComment-840859 Share on other sites
nephew
Thanks for the reply. Unticking the drivers on install did the trick! Thanks again Nephew Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/118323-screen-turns-off/#findComment-841100 Share on other sites
