I have a new Dual Core Acer 5672 with OS86 installed. All works except 2 things. It has the Ethernet Grayed out and won't allow me to connect to my ethernet connection. Also I can't change the 1024 X 768 resolution and I have tried the Graphics Mode Boot but doesn't work. It has a Radeon X1400 graphics card and you would think that would work.

Thanks in advance.

How do I tell if it's running in Vesa mode?

I just bought this machine. I love it, and OSX runs great on it, but I don't have ethernet or wireless working yet. Any suggestions? Have you had any luck?

I haven't had any luck yet either. I have the same machine and same problems you do. I even reinstalled 10.4.3 instead of 10.4.5 to see it that would work. Same problems. No ethernet and no wireless. Maybe somebody will be able to help us here eventually.

I'm looking at replacing the wireless card -- Atheros has a new mini card form factor wifi card which should work, but I can't seem to find any place to buy it! A standard mini pci card won't work.

In the meantime, will pick up a usb wireless card tommorrow, so I can jettison XP.

Yeah that should work for the internet. I don't have sound or a resolution above 1024 X768. Are you getting sound or higher resolution? If so how did you do it?

I went out this morning and bought a D-Link DWL-G122, then downloaded the most recent Mac driver from www.ralink.com (look for drivers for RTL-2500). Reboot, now I have network! Posting this from Safari.

I picked up AppleAzaliaAudio, kext from there, followed the instructions, and sound works beautifully now.

I downloaded the kext file and followed the intructions. When I copied and pasted the instructions into terminal window it says no such file.

My understanding is that it needs to have the ralink chipset for the usb to work (and remember to download the drivers from raliink.com). I went to looking for these two models, because others had reported success with them:

Belkin F5D7050

Dlink DWLG122

Both have the same chip set.

Video next!

Wow..Now this thing is getting confusing. Ok...I will download them..

Did you see where my computer is refusing to take the kext file using the script for the Audio?

Did you get this to work on the Acer 5672 WLMi?

Because i've tried those instructions over and over again and it still seems to not work.

Luckily for me I have a USB headset, and USB works like a charm on the 5672 so i'm settling with that for the meantime.

Any help to get the onboard audio working would be much appreciated.

It appears that no networking will work on these laptops -- which is a pain, because the same cards seem to work for others.

Right now I'm using:

Broadcom 169d (LAN)

Broadcom 4311 (Wireless - Dell Truemobile 1390)

both of which are reported to work on this forum, but neither do. Can anyone think of a reason these wouldn't be working for us? I know in Windows XP I had to install a chipset driver (?...)
