harrypotterfan999
I am an absolute fresher in this Hackintosh department. Firstly, I would like to know if people in this forum just try out Leopard once to check it out OR they shift completely to Leopard or maybe dual-boot? I can't tell the difference between SSE2 and SSE3 and don't understand most of the hardware things (regarding BIOS ansd all) being discussed. So I am providing screenshots of my System Information expecting someone to help me out. One thing that I can gurantee is that I can learn pretty quick, so feel free to refer to any Wikipedia pages. It would certainly be better if you select text of it and post it here. So here are the screenshots, please tell me if I should risk installing Leopard. I have experience installing XP, Vista and Ubuntu numerous times. So I know some basic things. System Summary Display Sound Also tell me if any changes are irreversible or not. P.S. my floppy drive doesn't work, so if any changes are to be made to the BIOS using a floppy then I will be helpless. pauℓzurrr.
Please install CPU-Z , and check if you're CPU supports at least SSE2. But even if it supports SSE2, i don't think you'll get a nice leopard experience, since you're video card is not supported and i don't think you'll have any sound because of a unsupported soundcard... ~p-J Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/117782-is-my-old-pc-able-enough-to-at-least-use-leopard-once/#findComment-834494 Share on other sites

Just want to check out different Apple features. So performance is not going to come in the way a lot. Are there any supported display and audio drivers for this config? And, do you people use Leopard permanently, or , like me, have just tested it once, or do you dual-boot Leopard and XP/Vista? I need to know if everything is going to work fine with a new PC (my new PC is long due). Do you use it on a regular bais or just for testing once? scott1991
I've not seen an Intel 845G graphics driver for Leopard. As for Sigmatel Audio, I've only seen drivers for Dell laptops. Even for Windows, that PC is very old. Why don't you do a hardware upgrade? I've seen people around this forum who can put up nice Leopard-compatible systems for $300-$400. I use Leopard permanently and use Windows only when it is needed for schoolwork thru VMware Fusion. I'd say Leopard is stable enough for permanent use if you have the right hardware combination. harrypotterfan999
Does Leopard run faster than Windows on these hackintoshes? Does Leopard run faster on Apple hardware than these configs? Does CDs/DVDs burned in Leopard run in Windows without probs? ( I mean, while using Windows, will I be able to write a second session to a multi-session disc created in Leopard? Or vice-versa?) Do all pen-drives work properly across both Windows and Leopard? Or do they need to be formatted differently? I have uploaded screenshots for a very similar, but slightly more powerful config at this album: http://"http://s200.photobucket.com/a...20from%20CPU-Z/ Is it possible to install Leopard on this config? Even for Windows, that PC is very old. Why don't you do a hardware upgrade? I've seen people around this forum who can put up nice Leopard-compatible systems for $300-$400. Yeah, actually I have been planning a completely new PC but Dad isn't going to give me so much money. He does plain email and stuff, so he thinks that this PC is still OK. I am just a plain college student, so can't buy my own. So you are sure that I haven't got any luck with any of these 2 configs? jamesah
http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=113623 If you can't come up with $250 something is wrong. -you just have to want it. Saving money is easy as long as you "pay yourself first". Anywho, you already have some of the basic components in the computer you use now, and if you're not afraid of buying off ebay, there are some good harddrive deals. Just check the osx86 wiki and see if it matches your hardware(from the above posts my advice seems like the best option since your hardware seems boned.). putzi
"Does Leopard run faster than Windows on these hackintoshes?" Yes it does "Does Leopard run faster on Apple hardware than these configs?" Not necessarily "Does CDs/DVDs burned in Leopard run in Windows without probs?" Yes they do "Do all pen-drives work properly across both Windows and Leopard? Yes they do Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/117782-is-my-old-pc-able-enough-to-at-least-use-leopard-once/#findComment-835385 Share on other sites
Hagar
Read the forum, these answers are easily found, rather than wasting others' time & effort asking repeat questions. OS X on PC is for those who can be bothered to learn how in their own time. Rather than making rude posts with hassly questions in bold, I suggest you do your own research. The answers are *all* here on the forum, all you are doing is getting others to look them up for you, wasting effort, space & time. harrypotterfan999
Sorry for asking those common questions here. I was actually frustrated at knowing that Leopard is out of bounds till I buy the new PC. It most probably will replace this one within 3 months. I have been saving up for a $1000 rig. Any lower and it will become outdated in less than 3 years. Want a quad-core and a huge monitor. That's why it's taking so much time. Thanks putzi for your concise answers. Just wanted that. But no one replied if the second config (whose screenshots are there in this album) will be able to scrape through or not... Sorry if I offended anyone.
