  1. I would like to have an easy to install wireless N adapter for my hackintosh. Can anyone make a recommendation? I'm not opposed to buying a router and turning it into an adapter if it's cheap. I'm looking to try and stream 1080p movies over wifi. I've already got the latest and greatest Netgear pumping out 5ghz N.
  2. Thanks for posting a method with linux. Much more efficient than what I had going a while back.
  3. Selling My HP Probook 4530s (XU016UT) Specs are according to the XU016UT but also with an 8GB ram upgrade. I haven't figured out what I want for it yet so make me an offer. It's in pretty much immaculate condition. I've only had it for a little over a month. I simply find it too big for my liking. I think I'm going to save up for an 11" Macbook Air. Currently I have Lion and Win7 in a dual boot. Windows 7 doesn't have the drivers installed and Lion is having a few issues with sleeping. I've been too lazy to fix both, although this laptop is quite a champ at running lion. Email me: Jamesah@gmail.com if you are interested. http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=170&t=28214
  4. DSDT Auto-Patcher

Thanks a million for my Probook 4530s DSDT! It's working fine. I'm pretty stunned at the amount of work you are constantly putting in here. I don't believe I've ever seen anything like this done on a public forum so relentlessly (and for free). Many of us are curious to know- how often do you update the patcher and when might the next one be released? The users with my lappie have been messing around with our DSDTs but we're nub cakes so we obviously aren't making super fast headway as far as editing it. Also, I used your hackboot CD and our laptop just reboots when we try to load anything with it. Dunno if you care much and I don't guess I do since I have a working USB solution. I just thought I'd mention it and see if you knew any magic tricks. Once again thanks a million! You sir are amazing. I bet apple would have a cow knowing how easy you are helping to making hackintoshing for the average joe. EDIT: Also- I've tried to add http://tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&a...mp;hilit=HD3000 to my dsdt and get a compile error with DSDTSE that says " 1: ACIP {Error 4096 - PARSEOP_NAMESEG, Expecting PARSEOP_DEFINITIONBLOCK" I get that error even before I do any modifications and just use the one you gave me. With the the other DSDT editor with syntax highlighting etc, I get 201 different errors and 10 optimizations.
  5. DSDT Auto-Patcher

Here is the "send me" information for my HP Probook 4530s laptop. It has specs that are very similar to the Macbook Pro 8,1 and has the potential to be one of the best Lion hackintoshes available. Myself and several others have been tinkering with getting everything working in a thread over at tonymac. There is also a new thread here at insanelymac that is a clone of the first post from the other one. Blueboy is the user who was been making the most headway. Important Specs: SandyBridge QM67 Chipset Core i3-2310M @ 2.1Ghz Atheros AR5B195 Wifi/Bluetooth Combo Intel HD3000 Graphics Please let me know if you need anything or any testing done. I would be happy to make progress with this laptop and not need so many kexts. I'm also fairly certain that other users of this laptop would love to have some DSDT support and are willing to help out in testing. As of now, there are about five users that I have seen with this particular model, although I'm sure there are more who haven't posted yet.
  6. Thanks for both the fixes. I've been too lazy to mess with it because I've been more concerned about getting the installs working properly but once I finish, this will be done.
  7. Chameleon. FULL Uninstall. HOW?

One way would be to clone your install with Carbon Copy Cloner, then format your main, then recopy. Prob not the best way to do it though.
  8. I'm selling my machine because I'd like to upgrade to an iMac and get rid of my behemoth of a computer case. I've got a craigslist listing for Monroe, Louisiana if you happen to live nearby this may save you some money on shipping. Gigabyte EP45-DS3L w/ Box, Manual, and Drivers- $85 6 Gigabytes 1066 mhz Corsair XMS2 Dominator Ram - $40 for matched 2x1gb and $100 for 2x2 4gb Nvidia GT 220 Graphics Card - 1GB of video memory - $30 Intel Quad Core Q6600 Processor 2.4ghz G0 edition - $100 Thermalright Ultra 120 Heatsink - $30 I've also got TWO hard drives. I'm willing to let the entire machine go- pre built with the aforementioned parts, both hard drives, and a DVD drive for $500. Here's my craigslist ad if you're interested in reading over it. http://monroe.craigslist.org/sys/2414081331.html You can PM me here, but email would likely be much faster. jamesah@gmail.com If you really wanna be fast, call my google voice number at 318 277 9343 PS: 30" Dell monitor is a 3007wfp and works great. I want $600 for it. These are all pre-shipping prices.
  9. [Guide] BURG bootloder Triple-boot !

So... does this BURG provide graphics card injection and all the other fantastic goodies that chameleon offers? Why should I switch. Chameleon is lightning fast for me.
  10. Any random usb stick in a windows VM should be able to do anything you want provided you know how to set it up.
  11. I came up with this idea a few days ago and proceeded to see if I could get it to work. I have a WPN111 wifi adapter that would not work until now. I made a video tutorial that should be sufficient to understand how the whole setup works. For some reason the audio input wasn't exactly the best, so you'll have to crank your speakers up. If this works for your wifi adapter(it should), please reply with the model number and maybe I'll add it to a wiki or something. At least compile a list here. You'll need the following: Parallels for Mac THIS tutorial with added script file A windows virtual machine (I use my bootcamp partition) A wireless USB stick (*the key is getting your virtual machine to recognize it) Patience The video tutorial: http://www.vimeo.com/22525426 I'm about to work on finding a solution that won't use as many system resources as a full blown windows VM. Maybe a small linux distro like Untangle will do the trick or at least a slimmed down XP. MODERATORS: Please delete this topic from the virtualisation section. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=254928
  12. USB and Wifi not Working D:<

You need a kext. find out what chipset you have and find out how to fix it with that. maybe use kext helper or something. btw, wrong forum section.
  13. I got it working via parallels. I'm making a tutorial right now. VMware is a pain in the butt. ahilahil I dunno if this will work for you. This is specifically geared for using a USB wifi stick. If you're trying to use internal wifi, it may be troublesome to have your hardware recognized by the Virtual Machine. I say go for it! Starting the video recording now.
  14. Theoretically, this will work for any USB wifi receiver that windows has drivers for. The only setback would be if your mac will not recognize the device AT ALL. If you can go into "about this mac" and "more info" then click USB- see if your USB wifi stick shows up at all. That should be a good indicator on whether or not this will work for you. There may be ways to get it recognized but not fully working using kexts or something but I don't think I needed any kexts. Items needed: Wireless connection that works under windows/parallels (USB stick in this video) Parallels Windows OS installed on parallels (I used my second hard drive that has windows on it for dual booting- it was recognized as boot camp) Patience Video Tutorial:http://www.vimeo.com/22525426 For some stupid reason the audio didn't work when I put it on youtube. I'll see what I can do but for now Pizza Hut is waiting on me. Parallels Terminal Info Required http://kb.parallels.com/en/9243 Original Post
  15. Wanted

I need the SPDIF input thingy for gigabyte motherboards so I can route optical through to my 7.1 surround system. I can pay for it if need be... but if you're not using it and don't have surround sound- I would love you forever if I could just pay shipping. Thanks! Email me at jamesah@gmail.com or PM here.
