djcarbon
I have a spare IDE drive that I am using to attempt the Kalyway 10.5.2 install but it will not erase using the disk utility. Kalyway boots fine and gets to that point where I need to format the drive using disk utility (as there is none in the choose to install OS part of the install..) the issue is an input / output error and that's it... no hackint0sh pc. My MB is an ECS GeForce 6100SM-M2 running an Athlon 64 chip with 2 GB of DDR2 ram... All help would be appreciated... Bless. InferiorYeast
input/output error can also indicate a bad drive, have you checked it in windows/linux? djcarbon
Done Gparted, Hiren & transmac. When I format as FAT32 at least I see the disk. The disk also seems to run fine under windows as it was my primary windows xp ntfs disk. I only took it out to replace it with a 250gb. Its a 120gb seagate Ide 7200 rpm drive and all indications have it working fine otherwise. Thanks for the interest and quick responses. This seems to be a recurring issue... Hmmm. I figure if Ubuntu will install on the drive so should the Kalyway which is supposed to be Athlon 64 friendly... djcarbon
Word. I am writing this from Ubuntu running on the drive that I have been fighting to format through disk utility for two days now. The drive is fine. Ubuntu installed with no issue. So I am more at a loss as to why Kalyway can't re-format my drive to install 10.5.2 on it.... Gujal
As your motherboard is nForce chipset based, it is not straight forward. Look at Mysticus C's detailed thread on this topic of installing Leopard on nForce Motherboards Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/115544-ide-drive-input-output-error-on-1052-kalyway-install/#findComment-818462 Share on other sites
