Daft Wullie
Hi All, I'm sorta new to this and wanted to ask advice before buying a Dell Vostro 410 LT (cheap for the features you get) and trying to install Leopard on it. Does anyone see any problems with this? In the list of compatible systems, I found the Vostro 400, but not the 410 ... Specs: Intel® Core™2 Quad Q9450 Processor 3072MB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM 256MB ATI® Radeon™ HD 3650 graphics card 750GB (7200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive with 16MB DataBurst™ cache Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Vincent
Daft Wullie
Ok, let me rephrase this If you were to buy a new cheap but powerful pc to install OSx86 Leopard 10.5.2 Kalyway on, which one would it be. Thx, Vince
Daft Wullie
just found out it has a foxconn motherboard, dunno what type though but I'd suspect it's the G33 model since the vostro 400 had the foxconn DG33M03.

tagavor
I can't seem to get it working on 10.6 (works on 10.5). The drives won't recognize. I take that back, I got 10.6 vanilla installed. I tried posting a how to but it didn't show up.
JackieO
I have the 530 inspiron with mobo DG33M03 SE0709, Core 2 Quad 6600 processor running (Vanilla) Leopard 10.5.8 without any issues. As long as you have a similar board and processor, I don't see a problem.

JackieO
Hello, Could you share the details? What distro/DVD used to install? What parameters selected? All cores working? Great thanks in advance... My System has been up and running for so long it's hard to remember how I got here. I can say that everything works without flaw. I started with kalyway leo 10.5.1 build, then updated system and kernel to 10.5.3 with the kalyway update packages. Following all instructions from here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=107340 I'm a little short on instruction for 10.5.4 and 10.5.5, but I'm going to say I did the same as with 10.5.3. Before 10.5.6, I installed the EFI Bootloader, PC_EFI v9 (Chameleon 1.0.12) using UInstaller 1.2 by PCWiz. I also used the DSDT patcher from Fassl to generate a fixed dsdt and installed the PM disabler, enabling Vanilla too! After 10.5.6, I've downloaded the individual 10.5.7 and 10.5.8 updates from Apple and installed them manually, separately without any trouble. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, it's just been so long since I actually had to figure out how to update anything. Hardware Information:
linatinsanely
My System has been up and running for so long it's hard to remember how I got here. Great thanks anyway for the fast reply! There are some critical steps which will need to be investigated some more. Kaliway 10.5.2 won't even boot on this d***ed Vostro420! Thanks for the support! At least it gives us some hope

I'm sorry that you are having so much trouble. I have learned that there are certain boxes that crave Kalyway and others that totally reject it??? I have had success with iAtkos v7 on another box, have you tried that?
linatinsanely
Do you not have the same mobo in your 420 as Daft has in his? Nope. The 420 has a Foxconn G45A. Eventually managed to have it working with iAtkos v7, but with some DSDT editing: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...&st=0 Also installed iDeneb Lite 10.5.8 on another partition, as the iAtkos has some flaws with foreign languages. I am trying to optimize the process and plan to write a guide. Thanks for your support
