ATI X1400 Mobility Chipset

I have the Gateway NX560XL notebook which has the mobile intel 945 chipset and the ATI X1400 mobility Radeon onboard. I've been unable to get audio or video (except vesa modes) to work with 10.4.4 or 10.4.5 (which is what I'm running currently).

I've been reading up quite a bit on the forums and was wondering if anyone has managed to get an ATI X1400 (or maybe even an x1600) working under OSX.

Throughout all of my reading I vaguely recall someone getting an X1800 (I think) working using 10.4.4 drivers with 10.4.3 opengl framework, or something like that.

I have been completely unable to reproduce any sort of sucess with this card (e.g. getting native res, 1680x1050, or CI/QE working). I get a kernel panic during boot every time when trying to use the X1000 kexts. If anyone has any thoughts or insights regarding this, I would LOVE to get this working.

Hello guys!

Once I'm happy because of it's WORKING!!!! I mean my hacintosh. :-) ACER Aspire 5562 - I've changed it yesterday.

Unfortunately my native resolution (1280x800) is not supported by OS X 10.4.6. I tried to follow the way like borisbadenov but I was unsucsessful with my ATI Radeon Mobility X1400... Sad... What should I do?

Any help will be appreciated!!!!

My laptop uses the same card - there is fat chance you can get it to work with osx, i tried kernel parameters, but it does not work, neither does omni's driver work with this card. Whats more, omni stopped working on the driver. Apparrently we we will have to build our own drivers, which is quite a burden, as there is no documentation for this card. (This card doesn't even work in linux - you need to get ati's legacy driver to make it work in the correct resolution (mine is 1280x800)).

Thus, osx86 is unusable in my machine :happymac:

Unfortunately no Dark_Elf. But another reason I didn't tried to make it work - we have no WiFi....

Little OT: I made it to work with Nisa's kext. Give a look here

I also tried borisbadenov's method but nothing to do: I get a kernel panic :(
