Ok then guys I know you've seen all this before but my problem is a bit more specific.

I am currently using 10.5.2 and I need to know about updating to 10.5.3 using the kalyway combo...

I have installed it once before only to find I am unable to boot back into OS X, I followed the instructions quite clearly with no luck...

Any help guys?

Specs are in my sig if needed.

Cheers MakD

Which Kernel package is needed to be installed? I take it that it's the hacked modbin one.

I havent repaired disk permissions yet but when I do the install and reboot I type update -v and it comes up saying something like:

13AppleAHCIPort is not compatible with its superclass. 10IOAHCIPort changed?

Failed to load extensions com.apple.AppleAHCIPort.

13AppleAHCIPort is not compatibel with its superclass. 10IOAHCIPort changed?

Failed to load extensions com.apple.AppleAHCIPort.

Couldn't alloc class "AppleICH8AHCI"

Couldn't alloc class "AppleAHCI"

Extension "com.apple.driver.iTunesPhoneDriver" has no explicit kernel dependency; using version 6.0

waiting for root device

so I restart it and boot straight in and all I get is the loading screen but with a circle with a diagonal line through it on the apple symbol.

If I repair disk permissions before I reboot will this solve my problem?

Many thanks

Hmmm it appears that it can't load the AppleAHCIPort... is there anyway of sorting this out before I hit restart because atm nothing I do is sorting it out. I repair the permissions after installing the right kernel nd nothing changes :/

Any help here would be great people!

Dan

Edit: Ok I've moved away from iAtkos and am now using Kalyway, I used Kalyway 10.5.2 but I'm still having problems updating to 10.5.3, After doing all the usual and selecting the right kernal, I then repair permissions and restart, luckily it doesnt hang up on the apple loading screen instead it hangs up in a plain blue screen, anyway to repair this?

Cheers

  • 3 weeks later...

When I got a "is not compatible with its superclass" error for a kext I downloaded XCode and the source code for the kext, and compiled it on my system and that fixed the problem. Turns out, that superclass :censored2: happens when you start out with one guys patch and update with another.
