BebopBlues
The funny thing is I'm not buying it not for OSX, I'll probably be using Vista 64 bit on it most of the time. I'm buying it for the hardware. I like the MBP design and built quality better than any PC laptops out there. I know it sounds crazy, but I just prefer Vista over OSX. I use both platform extensively for work, but always prefer Windows for the most part. The only apps I like in OSX are the ones made by Apple, such as iLife, FinalCut, DVD Studio Pro, etc. If Apple ported those apps to Windows, I would probably not use OSX at all. As you can see in my sig, I have an OSx86 10.5.2 machine, but I rarely boot into it. I use Vista 64 bit most of the time. I also have XP installed, but rarely boot into that also. Vista 64 bit is really excellent, unlike most people who runs Vista 32 bit, I have no issues with Vista. I always thought Microsoft should have never made a 32bit version of Vista. Anyway, I wonder how many people here buy a Mac to run Vista 64 bit mostly. I might be the first. I'm planning to have 4GB or more of ram in it, it should be pretty speedy. I'm kinda disappointed that Apple doesn't have the option for an nVidia 8800GT, but I guess the 8600GT will do. Also, I'm planing to get the iPhone 3G in November. Now if only I can install Windows mobile ... j/k Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/111671-just-ordered-my-first-mac/ Share on other sites
SticMAC™
Maybe you should start a "windows fanboy club" and get an InsanelyWin website up and running!? If you thought you bought it for the build quality, you haven't seen the new HP voodoo series yet! http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4450 (please excuse me, but I think I'm gonna go throw up! BebopBlues
I'm not a Windows fanboy. It's just for my needs, Windows is a better fit. As I said in the first post, I prefer Windows over OSX. I never said Windows is better. That HP is comparable to a Macbook Air or Macbook, not a MBP. It might be different folks and different taste, but I still like the Mac's design a lot better. Also, I'm not a fan of HP. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/111671-just-ordered-my-first-mac/#findComment-790888 Share on other sites
vaporATX
If you looking to run windows and want build quality you should have bought a T-Series Thinkpad. MBP is a consumer laptop. The build quality is good, but not on par with a Thinkpad. Looking like it's well made and actually being well made are two different things. Knock 'em both off a table top and see who wins. Note: I'm not putting down the MBP. You will love it... beautiful machine. Mine goes with me every where I go around town. But when I travel I take my Thinkpad T60. I know it can get banged around and not let me down. Plus, the 10 hours plus of batt life I can't live without. Chrysaor
You bought an aluminum case for build quality? That case dents and scratches if you look at it funny, not to mention it gets hot because 1" thick aluminum collects the heat. I love OS X but Apple hardware is , it looks pretty though.
