EvilYoda
So I was able to get it up and running on the Dell testbed and would like to buy a Dell 1450 mini-PCI wifi card (supposedly compatible and natively recognized?) for my laptop...all I use on the laptop are a browser, chat client and office software. Of these three (other than Safari), what are my options? Will openoffice for Mac work, despite being on an Intel machine? Thanks for all the help you've provided to this lurker so far...I really hope to get it up and running on the laptop! Tatsh
OpenOffice works great. Make sure you have X11 installed (the Apple version works). I'm guessing that mine is not as fast as on Windows or Linux because of no graphics acceleration. jdxxx
Get openoffice. Works as well as MS office for most things. Browser: Use Opera 9 beta -- best browser around. xiberia
i use AdiumX for chat (works with AIM, MSN, ICQ, Yahoo, Googletalk etc) http://www.adiumx.com/ Firefox for a browser. or you could try Camino (same thing, different frontend) http://wiki.mozilla.org/Mac:Intel For Office, OpenOffice is good (and now has intel support). You DO need to install X11 though, install it from your OSX install disk. NeoOffice is the native Mac version, but that one isn't useable on intel at the moment (summer 2006) http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/ooo-osx_downloads.html I use OpenOffice on my PC, but I don't need a full office suite on my Mac, so I use iWork. Pages can open Word documents quite easily.
