Hi

OK, i have installed Mac OSX on my Hard Drive sucessfully, but now i want to install it on Windows XP (virtually). I have downloaded VMWare Workstation 6 and followed about five different guides about how to set the virtual system up. For all of them i get the following error message:

ATA Disk: Checksum Cookie Not Valid

Does anyone know how i could fix this problem or does anyone know what this means?

Thanks!

BTW specs:

AMD Sempron 1.8GHz 3400+

2GB Ram

MoBo: Gigabyte GA-M51GM-S2G

OnBoard GFX (GeForce 6100)

PATA (IDE) HDD SeaGate 160GB (Slit into 3 partitions [WindowsXP, MacOSX & Shared])

I just downloaded fusion 2 beta 1 and i get the same error as on fusion 1. Do you know what this means?

VMware Fusion unrecoverable error: (vmx)

It's the same error i get with fusion 1 when i try to run a virtual machine :)

You machine doesn't support QE/CI or the video drivers for it haven't been installed.

What's QE/CI? Sorry...

well I just chose freebsd and then u have to "boot" with -v flag and everything runs

Really? I'll try that in windows, as this error doesnt occur there but a different one.

EDIT

OK, i found out what QE/CI is and how to check if my system supports it. Here:

I dont understand now. It says Software on CI but what does that mean now...?

Thanks for you help again!

It means you do not have the correct drivers or kexts installed for the video card. Now judging from the information in this thread, there could be 2 possible things you are doing:

1: If the screenshot was from a virtual machine in VMware, I doubt you will ever get QE and CI enabled. I don't know that for 100% but I think that would be a big issue

2: If the screenshot was from inside your hackintosh running 10.5.2, it means you need to install either natit or nvinject. There is a good possibility that it will not work with an onboard GF 6100, but if you install a 8 series card or anyone int he forum that seems to support it (do a little searching and digging) you should be able to find a cheap card with the capabilities. If I am not mistaken the GeForce 8600 is capable, and I think that card is close to 50$ these days. I know my 8800GTS 640M works fine. I was even playing Unreal Tournament 2004 on it so 3d was working fine.

If I am not mistaken, the Quartz Extreme (QE) is 3D acceleration support, and the Core Image (CI) is 2D acceleration. I could be wrong but that is how I gathered it.

Thanks for your reply HeXeDOSOK! :)

OK, the screenshot was from my hackintosh and not vmware...

I done a bit of research and found out that my onboard gfx wont work, because there are no working kext for it. This also means that i need to stick to the 1024x768 resulution which sux :(

Anyway, i'll get a new card which will work with it! :)

Thanks again everyone for your help! :D

i'm also trying to install kalyway 10.5.2 on vmware 6. i also get that cookie problem, but when i w8 for a couple of minutes, it'll start running again

my problem is i'm getting stuck at that osx wallpaper with that beachball thingy and it doesnt seem to load after that

I have sucessfully installed it mate. you need vmware 6.5...otherwise no way it work on 6

sweet, thanks, will try it now

one question though, if i install it using vmware 6.5, can i run it using the older versions? or is 6.5 the only one capable of running and installing it?

because i have a "registered" version of the older one

thanks
