1ker
Hi OK, i have installed Mac OSX on my Hard Drive sucessfully, but now i want to install it on Windows XP (virtually). I have downloaded VMWare Workstation 6 and followed about five different guides about how to set the virtual system up. For all of them i get the following error message: ATA Disk: Checksum Cookie Not Valid Does anyone know how i could fix this problem or does anyone know what this means? Thanks! Donk
Nobody has successfully installed Kalyway in VMware. iATKOS, JaS and ~pcwiz are the only one's currently working. There are threads here that will explain how to install them. 1ker
Oh, I see... Looks like my project is cancelled then... I wanted to create a guide to install kalyway with lots of detail and screenshots, but it looks like i cant to that anymore Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/109340-vmware-workstation-trying-to-install-mac-osx-kalyway-1052/#findComment-775572 Share on other sites
Donk
Yep - sorry I've tried many different ways to do this, also Leo4All won't install either. Not sure what the problem is. 1ker
Is that the same for vmware fusion on mac? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/109340-vmware-workstation-trying-to-install-mac-osx-kalyway-1052/#findComment-775818 Share on other sites
Donk
I've got none of them running on Fusion 1.x on Mac. Fusion 2 is same code base as Server 2 and Workstation 6.5, and probably will be OK. I am going to try this in the next few days. 1ker
I just downloaded fusion 2 beta 1 and i get the same error as on fusion 1. Do you know what this means? VMware Fusion unrecoverable error: (vmx) ASSERT bora/mks/main/mksQuartz.c:1242 A log file is available in "/Users/1ker/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized/Other.vmwarevm/vmware.log". A core file is available in "/cores/core.466". Please request support and include the contents of the log file and core file. To collect data to submit to VMware support, run "/Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/vm-support.tool". We will respond on the basis of your support entitlement. It's the same error i get with fusion 1 when i try to run a virtual machine Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/109340-vmware-workstation-trying-to-install-mac-osx-kalyway-1052/#findComment-776802 Share on other sites

1ker
You machine doesn't support QE/CI or the video drivers for it haven't been installed. What's QE/CI? Sorry... well I just chose freebsd and then u have to "boot" with -v flag and everything runs Really? I'll try that in windows, as this error doesnt occur there but a different one. EDIT OK, i found out what QE/CI is and how to check if my system supports it. Here: I dont understand now. It says Software on CI but what does that mean now...? Thanks for you help again! Donk
Need hardware acceleration not software. I found this out myself recently. HeXeDOSOK
It means you do not have the correct drivers or kexts installed for the video card. Now judging from the information in this thread, there could be 2 possible things you are doing: 1: If the screenshot was from a virtual machine in VMware, I doubt you will ever get QE and CI enabled. I don't know that for 100% but I think that would be a big issue 2: If the screenshot was from inside your hackintosh running 10.5.2, it means you need to install either natit or nvinject. There is a good possibility that it will not work with an onboard GF 6100, but if you install a 8 series card or anyone int he forum that seems to support it (do a little searching and digging) you should be able to find a cheap card with the capabilities. If I am not mistaken the GeForce 8600 is capable, and I think that card is close to 50$ these days. I know my 8800GTS 640M works fine. I was even playing Unreal Tournament 2004 on it so 3d was working fine. If I am not mistaken, the Quartz Extreme (QE) is 3D acceleration support, and the Core Image (CI) is 2D acceleration. I could be wrong but that is how I gathered it. 1ker
Thanks for your reply HeXeDOSOK! OK, the screenshot was from my hackintosh and not vmware... I done a bit of research and found out that my onboard gfx wont work, because there are no working kext for it. This also means that i need to stick to the 1024x768 resulution which sux Anyway, i'll get a new card which will work with it! Thanks again everyone for your help!
