Parkol
The sound card for Hackintosh and for work in Logic 8 on Leo 10.5.2? About 8 years I use Cubase and I would use it more if… Few days ago I installed Leopard 10.5.2 on my PC and… it works… works good. Of course I always dreamt about Logic 8. Now I think about install Logic 8 and work only there, forget Cubase and etc… ÎÑ – Leopard 10.5.2 CPU: Intel Core 2 duo 6600, Motherboard: Asus P5B Deluxe Wi FI, RAM: 4 GB DDR2 Patriot, Video: Nvidia GF 8800 GTS (640Mb) HDD: Hitachi 500 Gb, DVD ROM: Plextor DVD-RW, Sound Card: M-Audio Audiophile 2496, (not working) Midi Keyboards: M-Audio Axiom 61, ROLAND PC-180A Hard Synth: CLAVIA Nord Modular G2 Could you advise 100% stable sound card (USB or Fire Wire) about 200$ for this system and Logic 8. Parkol
What about sound? Does M-Audio sounds better or worse than others. I read some article that Apogee Duet doesn't work on Hackintosh... Thats is not good. Maybe Firewire 410 M-Audio? Oh, I know M-Audio always updates drivers... It's very important for me.

I recently built a hackintosh with: Mobo: Asus P5E (on board sound working partially) RAM: 4 Gig @ 1066 HDD: 1xRaptor 74GB for Kalyway 10.5.2, 1xSamsung 1TB 32MB Buffer for samples & projects, 1 x Seagate 160GB for Time Machine GFX: old Geforce 6600GS with QE/CI working. For audio I use an EMU 0404 USB 2.0 with Logic Pro 8.02, Ableton Live 6 and Bias Peak Pro. No problems so far I've also tried the Multiface mkII with the PCI Interface (which you can cheaply get it from e-bay) and the Motu Traveler Firewire. Both work OK too

zombiewheel
Hi mate My set up is as follows: Gigabyte GA-31M-ES2L Core 2 Duo E7400 2 Gb Crucial RAM Gefore 7300GT (XFX) Belkin Firewire PCI card (Texas Instruments chip) Presonus Firebox (Definitely in your price range. Good review in SOS- http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jul05/articles/firebox.htm ) All working hunky dory on 10.5.8. Make sure your Firewire bus/chip is a Texas Instruments though or you might have problems. I did with a Lacie card (VIA) until I swapped it for the Belkin. Also I got a Nord Lead 1 midi-ed up to the Firebox. Works fine. If that helps. Good luck. P.S. Make sure you're running as close to a Vanilla kernel as possible. Fully is recommended esp for audio.
