Phlox
I didn't see the E7xxx line in the wiki or by searching, probably because they're newish, but an E7200 should work fine shouldn't it? It's pretty much the only decent core2 chip that fits in my budget. If not, what do you guys suggest? Synaesthesia
It'll work fine, all the Core based CPU's do, on Vanilla kernel too. It's a great chip. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/108861-core-2-e7200/#findComment-771851 Share on other sites
tram
I have this chip. There's some glitching with vanilla 10.5.4 with USB sound and my usb keyboard/mouse sometimes getting lost (unplug/replug) which is apparently related to the 45nm tech. Oh well, eventually apple will be shipping it. Supposedly the modbin kernel fixes it, but I'm still doing research. kenkenc
Any Core2 can run Vanilla? Every time I try to boot with Vanilla... in the start up by typing "Vanillakernel" it always crashes any idea? rob801
i've just upgradeded my rig with the GA-G31M-S2L and the e7200 I've noticed with the e7200 with it being the new 45nm processor using vanilla it causes sound to be somewhat crackly/broken and also the computers time doesent keep correctly - currently using kalyway install 10.5.1 and selecting the netkas 9.2.2 kernal this corrects this...... hope this helps. ciao.x Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/108861-core-2-e7200/#findComment-837932 Share on other sites
vidgameking
I have a e7300 which is the same proc, just slightly different speed.. anyways I can't seem to get OSX to see the CPU as a core 2 duo, only unknown! I'm running kalyway 10.5.2 install, with the kalyway 10.5.3 updater, and the apple 10.5.4 upgrade. It's also using the vanilla kernel.. anyways if anyone could help me with this that would be awesome! U can edit the about this mac section using "osx86 tools" - search it in this forum and u will find it instantly. Also, open Utilities>System Profiler and see the number of cores, bus speed, cache, etc. and check if they match up with the specs of the E7300 as stated here: http://www.intel.com/products/processor_nu...rt/core2duo.htm If it is the same, then u just need to change the name if u want to! The performance is the same! I didn't see the E7xxx line in the wiki or by searching, probably because they're newish, but an E7200 should work fine shouldn't it? Using Kalaway showed up as "2.53 Ghz Unknown" - from the osx86 10.5.2 HCL list - taken from the wiki! http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph..._10.5.2#Intel_2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/108861-core-2-e7200/#findComment-885510 Share on other sites
crackpipe
E7200 in Shuttle K45 overclocked to 3.0ghz is great, updated to 10.5.5 but I had to use the modbin kernel from the Kalyway 10.5.3 update for the reason explained here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry899553 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/108861-core-2-e7200/#findComment-904249 Share on other sites
