i got couple of questions

i'm thining of buying a macbook around $1200 i've looked at www.macmall.com and there are many choices but i dont understand what increases the price so much and what decreases price so much for almost no change.

also

in one of the listing it says super drive and in other one it doesn't say and the price diffrence is only like 20$

i can't seem to figure out which one to get... there are so many listings most have mail in rebate..

if anyone could help me determine what to get

my main perpose of getting this laptop is for programming and the speed

i'm currently studying comptuer science but 100% new to mac i've tried hackintosh but didnt work well on my hp dv6404 and on my pc i was havving erros everytime while installastion even with woring dvds but anyway

now i'm deciding to buy a macbook

thanks for the help.

The base MacBook at $999 (for students) is great for a computer science student, but if you need the DVD burner and extra speed, the next step up adds the burner, 300MHz, 1GB of memory, and 40GB extra storage for $200 more. There's no reason to get the black one other than the look. You can build the midrange one to the same specs for $1289, while the black one is $1399.

The reason some of MacMall's prices seem weird, is they are listing current models with previous models (they say "Closeout Model"). I'd wait a couple weeks (if you can) and get one of the current models during the Back to School season. They'll have some sort of offer you can't refuse. Last year it was a free iPod nano (or $199 off a normal iPod, so I got a 30GB iPod for $50 with my MacBook).

thanks for the replay sarahbau.

lets just take this laptop for example

http://www.macmall.com/macmall/families/ne...ook~promo~4.asp

about $1,219.00 after rebate

it says in the tittle

Appleb 13.3" MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz, 2GB, 160GB, SuperDrive - White

i dont understand what it means by super drive? does that mean internal cd/dvd burner/reader or external? im assuming its internal

and for this one

http://www.macmall.com/macmall/families/ne...ook~promo~3.asp

it says in the tittle

Apple 13.3" MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo 2.1GHz 2GB, 120GB, Combo Drive - White

it says combo drive? i'm assuming it means dvd reader and cd burner/reader?

the diffrence is Slot-load Combo Drive and 8x Slot-load SuperDrive ?

my question its just diffrent way of calling cd/dvd burner or non burner?

and is macmall a good place to buy from? cause everything is rebate... and huge rebates.. lol

thanks

Buy it directly at the International Apple Store of your country.

Are you a student or a staff member, you could apply for your educational discount

and get from 100 ~ 200 discount.

You can get the base MacBook for $999 and upgrade the memory to 4GB purchasing

the memory from a local electronics store.
