I have AHCI mode set in BIOS it works perfectly in leopard 10.5.3 and Vista

than you have hot swappable SATA in PC and mac

while installing vista make sure AHCI is already set in bios than by default vista install drivers for AHCI, For XP you need to provide AHCI drivers during install

if you installed vista without enabling ahci, and later on when you installed leopard you enabled ahci, you have to change windows setting so that it can boot when ahci is enabled

follow this guide:

Enable msahci

just boot without ahci first into vista

then follow the guide

restart and enable ahci

see if you can boot into vista or not

optional you can install intel ahci driver after you manage to boot into vista with ahci enabled

Hope it helps

that fix is for vista,.... and could loose the optical drive,...

running XP,... and could not find ahci driver ?

for right now, don't want to switch to vista,...

maybe once I get a new laptop, and 64 bit version,

and run everything on GPT partition,...

the other solution is , to get leo, to run without ahci ? anybody ?

any workaround with kext or drivers, or do I need to change hardware/motherboard,

but witch one ?

rshultz101: Did you try the AHCI? and what was the specific error that you got.... a flash should work....

To your second question...there are kext packages; are you using atkos or kalyway or vanilla?

Try this to repair for your xp:

Not sure whether it will work or not, try at your own risk
