shaybc
hello guys, i am trying to compile a list (complete as i can) of all the available kernels available for download out there (even the ones that comes inside the install DVD distro) like: mach_kernel, toh, semthex, sse2, i would like to have name of the kernel file, download link (if possible), if you have even one please write back, thanks ahead, Shay. shaybc
OK, so this is the list i managed to compile so far: (from Numberz post): sleepkernel--(intel/amd/sse2/sse3) speedstepkernel--(intel/amd/sse2/sse3) nforcekernel--(intel/sse3) modbinkernel--(intel/amd/sse3) vanillakernel--(intel/sse3) kabylkernel--(intel/sse3) with sleep support kernel_9.2_sleep kernel_9.2_speedstep kernel_9.2.2_kabyl kernel_922_modbin kernel_92_nforce kernel_vanilla_922 (from Kalyway_10.5.2_kernels.mpkg): efi kernel_Patched (by modbin) universel amd/intel 9.2 kernel pached by modbin SSE3 amd intel compatible ! for all sse3 cpu users !!!! efi 9.2 kernel_vanilla (the original from apple) YOU MUST HAVE INTEL MOBO AND CORE FAMILY CPU !!!!!! (pentium D dual are not support) (the list provided in Leo4Allv3Final DVD): Vanilla kernel 9.2.0 Vanilla kernel 9.2.2 kernel-9.2.0 kernel-9.2.0-Sleep kernel-9.2.2 so long story short (lets summaries): Apple release a kernel version every release, Leopard 10.5.1 had kernel 9.0 - 9.1 Leopard 10.5.2 had kernel 9.2 - 9.2.2 Leopard 10.5.3 has kernel 9.3.0 you can use one of the vanilla (comes from apple via software update or within the DVD) or you can use one of the hacked version releases by one of the releasers, search insanely. the thing i don't get is what are the words: Semtex, Golden kernel, stock kernel, kobil, kaby, TOH, modbin, nforce? are these releasers? kernel names? or something else, if someone can shed light on that matter i would be grateful, one more thing, the command to check what is the kernel version i use is: strings /mach_kernel | grep Darwin or use the command: uname -a is there another way? and how can i tell if it is vanilla rather then a hacked one? is relaying on the text is enough? thanks ahead, Shay. Onishi
uname -ais there another way? and how can i tell if it is vanilla rather then a hacked one? is relaying on the text is enough? thanks ahead, Shay. U can do next in the terminal: sudo -s cd / ls -al If ur mach_kernel is about 10Mb is should be the vanilla. If it about 5 - haked kernel. Hope I'm right. Geo Mandell
+1 for stickie. I've been looking for something like this for awhile....maybe links to each kernel would be cool, as well? m82a1
this is awesome, i agree, we should link the kernels, if not directly to the kernel packages maybe the dev's site / bloglike i am struggling right now with finding modbins 9.3.0, sure i found some stupid kalyway .pkg but its not helping really, we do need links lol the thing i don't get is what are the words: Semtex, Golden kernel, stock kernel, kobil, kaby, TOH, modbin, nforce?are these releasers? kernel names? or something else, if someone can shed light on that matter i would be gratefulthese are the hackers themselves, or their own little group Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/107152-kernel-list-help-needed/#findComment-814027 Share on other sites
Armentage
So does "Vanilla" mean a completely unmodified Apple kernel? I'm using OSX86 tools and it tells me that both my 9.0.0 golden kernel and my 9.4.0 modbin kernel are "Vanilla". Am I missing something?
