hello guys,

i am trying to compile a list (complete as i can) of all the available kernels available for download out there (even the ones that comes inside the install DVD distro) like: mach_kernel, toh, semthex, sse2,

i would like to have name of the kernel file, download link (if possible),

if you have even one please write back,

thanks ahead,

Shay.

OK, so this is the list i managed to compile so far:

(from Numberz post):

  • sleepkernel--(intel/amd/sse2/sse3)
  • speedstepkernel--(intel/amd/sse2/sse3)
  • nforcekernel--(intel/sse3)
  • modbinkernel--(intel/amd/sse3)
  • vanillakernel--(intel/sse3)
  • kabylkernel--(intel/sse3) with sleep support
  • kernel_9.2_sleep
  • kernel_9.2_speedstep
  • kernel_9.2.2_kabyl
  • kernel_922_modbin
  • kernel_92_nforce
  • kernel_vanilla_922

(from Kalyway_10.5.2_kernels.mpkg):

  • efi kernel_Patched (by modbin) universel amd/intel 9.2 kernel pached by modbin SSE3 amd intel compatible ! for all sse3 cpu users !!!!

  • efi 9.2 kernel_vanilla (the original from apple) YOU MUST HAVE INTEL MOBO AND CORE FAMILY CPU !!!!!! (pentium D dual are not support)

(the list provided in Leo4Allv3Final DVD):

  • Vanilla kernel 9.2.0
  • Vanilla kernel 9.2.2
  • kernel-9.2.0
  • kernel-9.2.0-Sleep
  • kernel-9.2.2

so long story short (lets summaries):

Apple release a kernel version every release,

Leopard 10.5.1 had kernel 9.0 - 9.1

Leopard 10.5.2 had kernel 9.2 - 9.2.2

Leopard 10.5.3 has kernel 9.3.0

you can use one of the vanilla (comes from apple via software update or within the DVD)

or you can use one of the hacked version releases by one of the releasers, search insanely.

the thing i don't get is what are the words: Semtex, Golden kernel, stock kernel, kobil, kaby, TOH, modbin, nforce?

are these releasers? kernel names? or something else, if someone can shed light on that matter i would be grateful,

one more thing, the command to check what is the kernel version i use is:

strings /mach_kernel | grep Darwin

or use the command:

uname -a

is there another way? and how can i tell if it is vanilla rather then a hacked one? is relaying on the text is enough?

thanks ahead,

Shay.

U can do next in the terminal:

sudo -s
cd /
ls -al

If ur mach_kernel is about 10Mb is should be the vanilla. If it about 5 - haked kernel. Hope I'm right.

this is awesome, i agree, we should link the kernels, if not directly to the kernel packages maybe the dev's site / bloglike i am struggling right now with finding modbins 9.3.0, sure i found some stupid kalyway .pkg but its not helping really, :( we do need links lol

these are the hackers themselves, or their own little group :)
