Zeroburn
Hi, I just loaded iAtkos on my Compaq Persario C751NR laptop, and out of curiosity, I know that removing all the CPU thermal kexts is known to improve cooling, but based on what temps exactly? I have my system installed with the thermal kext files in OS X, I'm getting CPU temps of 63c tops.....I run the system for hours so far and my laptop fan works fine, system seems to run stable and solid. Anyone getting less than this? and what should be a good average with a Intel Core Duo CPU at 1.6ghz speed? Am I too high still and would I see improvements by removing those files? If so, which files? Thanks I would also like to know what you all are getting temp wise. Xavior Penguin
I have an Intel Core Duo @ 1.6ghz and using iSlayer.com's iStat Menu Bars *plug*, my laptop starts out at about 79F and when running or idle with no special kext's deleted, I have seen it get to 110F and stay there, maybe hitting 114F. Mostly 110F. Laptop specs below. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/102356-laptop-cpu-temps/#findComment-730050 Share on other sites

Mine is always at around this temp and climes to around 150F when at top load and I'm doing a lot. my T7100 is rated at 100C so that is approximately 225F. Which is WAY HOT and the system should shutdown. See my processor info here: http://processorfinder.intel.com/Details.aspx?sSpec=SLA4A What I am trying to figure out is WHY does my system not turn the fan on from a COLD BOOT? It gets into OSX and the temp climbs and climbs until i reboot at which time the bios turns the fan on and then OSX loads and keeps it on. Does that happen to anyone else here? Zeroburn
thanks for the input, I would assume I'm kinda border line, my fan is on, but I think it should be sorta, kicking up at least to help ease that temp out, this was after a long time of use and I tried playing some HD 720p movies for awhile, got up to 69C. At boot up, I'm at about 53C on average with it being idle in OS X. I guess I'll try deleting the applethermal.kexts maybe?
