It insists to copy your entire music collection to it's own directory, bugs the hell out of anyone who has a reasonable amount of music already, there is no way to disable it as far as I know, and even if there is, it's hidden very nicely, which is bad enough.

also, much of the fun of iTunes disappears when you don't have an account, and you can't always get one... if you live in country apple doesn't like for example.

anyway, cog is nice and simple, has last.fm support if it matters.

I think the OP doesn't like the library based interface. Some people like the simplicity of a simple playlist. I have like 300 gigs of music, so I need a library with a good search or I'd never be able to find anything. :(

My reason's for not like iTunes are different. It's an inefficient, bloated, buggy, POS... that's my reasons for not liking it and also the reason I use: http://sbooth.org/Play/ most of the time.

You can disable the consolidation of the media files added to iTunes from the Options..

Plus.. iTunes works.. with my iPhone, why use anything else.. it searches and plays it's organized without copying everything to music library.. i've got my music on a NAS served disk.. PERFECT..

i can't image why not iTunes.. plus the last 2 weeks i've got my self an account and it's the best, podcasts etc..!

Sorryz but.. i just like it!

that's fair, i guess. You can change the library settings in preferences>advanced though. I have an itunes account, but I never use it. I found Curator for all my album art needs because I was tired of having more expansive tastes than ITMS offers. I only have 80GB, but like Vapor states, the library management aspect is nice. You could give Songbird a try too. The guys that started winamp are behind that project, and it has web integration. Shrug.
