HD4000 loading but no QE

Please help me with this conundrum. I cannot get QE to work with my HD4000 i3 3245 CPU on 6 series board.

It worked completely the first few times that I booted with NullCPUPowerManagement. Then I uninstalled it and it does not have QE. In kextstat it shows HD4000 kexts and AGPM and Capri etc. And my info shows the HD4000, but no window transparency or HD4000 selectable in OpenGL Extensions Viewer test.

Now even if I reinstall NullCPUPM there is no QE. What the heck is wrong?

I never got the HD4000 to work properly in Mavericks. But this time it booted up perfectly a few times, showing me that it IS possible.

Please please please help!

Might want to try creating a DSDT for your board. See http://www.macbreaker.com/2014/03/how-to-edit-your-own-dsdt-with-maciasl.html

For getting the base DSDT if you are booting with Clover, in the Clover boot screen, press F4. It will save the DSDT (along with a lot of other files) to your Clover > ACPI > origin folder. Use this as the basis to then follow the instructions.

I have tried endlessly with a DSDT. I never got the QE to return.

I just reinstalled Clover 2960 and QE was back again for a few reboots. Then I tried to fix p states (using iMac13,2 with only 2 p states) and so I was using ssdtPRGen.sh to create an SSDT for myself so I could use -xcpm. Unfortunately the experiment didn't work. It knocked out the QE again. Also the 10.10 glitch patch stopped working. So I removed the SSDT.aml and changed thing back to how they were... still no QE and glitching startup.

So weird!!!

It seems to only work until its broken, then no matter what I try it doesnt come back on.

Please any further ideas?

Anyone? Is there anyone here who has any ability to assist in this regard?

This is three separate issues I have had and written about in this forum, with no real responses. At least someone can point me to a more helpful, supportive community?

MEI problem; HD4000 on 6 Series motherboard. OS X assumes HD4000 is on 7 Series motherboard.  IOReg/@16 shows the 6 series MEI device_id: 3a1c, must be 3a1e for HD4000.  Use dsdt injection (0x3a, 0x1e, 0x00, 0x00) or edit Capri/Info.plist/IOPCIPrimaryMatch/0x1E3A8086 to 0x1C3A8086

Try apply patch in AICPM.

And this kexts are loaded?

AppleIntelFramebufferCapri, AppleIntelHD4000Graphics and AGPM

I had already tried patched AICPM.

All three kexts load.

I use a FakeID for MEI injection of 0x1E3A8086 for my HD4000 on 6 series. That doesn't seem to be the problem. I have also patched the DSDT for the same thing.

Right now I am trying Chameleon again and I'm seeing a little progress. QE works until I load an SSDT using ssdtPRGen.sh. Then it fails again. But at least if I remove it QE comes back in Chameleon.

I really need to get more than 2 P states (which is why I wanted an SSDT and hopefull -xcpm). For xcpm however, I cannot find out how to patch the mach_kernel on yosemite. I am using a tool, but it fails cos the mach_kernel isn't the same on yosemite. Any further ideas? Thanks guys. I appreciate your time.

I have the same problem!

10.8.2 works without any issues...

But post 10.8.3 update, QE/QC disappears!!!

I have tried, 10.9, 10.10.....

Currently I have 10.8.2 installed... But many softwares aren't supported on 10.8.2 :/

I need to upgrade to at least 10.9!

Please help!

It would be nice if you had started your own thread for your completely unrelated problem.

But before you do I can offer you some suggestions of what to try. Try removing DSDT and SSDT and just use the config file of your bootloader - you can disable NVidia from there too. I had luck with that. Also try all the different FrameBuffer numbers, also try a few different SMBios.plist's Macmini5,1 has been the best for me. Followed by iMac13,1 (although the iMac ones have serious issues with p states). Also try Mac Pro 3,1. Don't try 4,1 or 5,1 until you remove the AppleTyMCE kext. What else. Try Injecting an EDID for your monitor (look up how to do this if you don't know). Try GraphicsEnabler=Yes and =No. If you set it either way make sure to enter a graphics mode (which you already have).

Good luck.

Come now. Someone must have some ideas or knowledge. Pleas share. I'm going mad here.

I was under the impression you guys were more serious than the Tony dude. At least that's what all your threads imply. But i'm just not seeing much expertise here.

Come forth if you can help. I can explain things further. But basically in both Clover and Chameleon QE works fine on first install and for either a couple of restarts, a couple of hours or through a couple changes of settings. After this however, on reboot the QE is permanently gone until I install the competitor bootloader. It's just really strange. I even have configurations saved from when it was working perfectly with full QE and hi fps in Open GL Extensions, and if I load those backed up configurations, the QE is still not working - until I cross install.

Can someone show me some frikkin mercy please?

  • 2 months later...

Hey,

I have the same problem although I'm on a 7 series motherboard, GA-Z77-DS3H. The first few times after installing the OS I get acceleration, but afterwards, nothing.

HD 4000 is recognized with 1024 MB but I don't have acceleration. In kextstat AppleIntelCPUPM, AppleIntelFramebufferCapri and AppleIntelHD4000Graphics gets loaded, but not AppleGraphicsPowerManagement. Should it?

I've tried using <key>ig-platform-id</key> <string>0x01620005</string> but that doesn't work.

Did you ever figure it out?

Thanks,

Matt
