Hi,

I'm in the process of building my first Hackintosh. I'm going to be using an i7 4770 processor with a Gigabyte z87-d3hp motherboard.

I'm
also going to get a GPU, and I was thinking of the GTX 760 until my friend informed me that the GTX 9-series are out very soon. Will these be compatible with hackintosh? Either immediately or soon after? Or will I have to wait and see before I buy it....

What kind of bugs? Can you explain a bit? Thanks.

Preview does not show images properly and it hangs when I try to resize them.

And this issue, the line in the middle, it happens when scrolling or moving windows:

Maybe there is more, I haven't tested so much.

Not at all surprising. It looks like QE and Core Image errors. The drivers for the OS X specific features wouldn't be stable and finished in the older drivers. WHQL and Linux Stable drivers hit right around release, OS X is a lower priority and timed more to release with when the products are intigrated into macs or slipped into patches with the most recent revision. It wouldnt suprise me if the web version for OS X was weeks or more old and the 10.10 previews perhaps a month or so. Unless its for a new launched product OS X drivers are often quite behind.

I cannot change the drivers to nvidia web.. Then if I enable the command I recive a black screen after the boot. Any ideas?

Your best off waiting until a stable driver with the new maxwell framebuffers for this hardware is completed. Until then you will have reboots, artifacting, and incomplete support under OS X. Nvidia BARELY got out the Linux and WHQL Windows drivers in time.

You can bypass all NV acceleration and kext loading issues with "nv_disable=1". Then try to follow the instructions here but keep in mind its not the latest drivers that are linked and they don't explicitly (i.e. script check) install on 10.10 yet because 10.10 hasn't been released. ^.~

Revise: Netkas has a good thread on the 10.10 preview driver builds from Nvidia with some feedback from people that have tried them. Focus on matching your Beta or DP build and clicking on the right one. Still remember that there are issues with these releases since 9xx releases are still of beta quality in addition to the OS being a beta.

Hmm, my own 970 came in today. Will test it soon for fun.

Out of curiosity does anyone know how to strip the signing out of the NVIDIA web drivers for platform? I boot it as an iMac13,2 and I would rather not have to change my SMBIOS settings just to install/update the web drivers. I tried it with Pacifist and the terminal utility but NVIDIA did a half decent job of making it not as simple as pulling out and editing the script. x.x

Update 2: When it does decide to work its capable of quite pretty things...

Nvidia Web Drivers 343.01.01a16 on 10.10 PB4

Gigabyte GeForce 970 4 GB G1 GAMING-4GD

Unigine Heaven 4.0 Extreme preset @ 1600x900 8xAA windowed

60.3 FPS (min 8.6 Max 120.2)

Score 1519

Unigine Valley Extreme preset @ 1600x900 8xAA windowed

59.6 FPS (min 25.2 Max 94.3)

Score 2438 (sorry I forgot to record this)

OpenCL & CUDA Both don't seem to work. I can't get luxmark or z-cuda to initialize. Core Image use (ie in preview) corrupts output. So there is still a lot of issues left but when it behaves it works well

Some screen shots: [Yes these were taken in OS and yes these are accurate to what was displayed when the drivers work properly.]

I installed Yosemite GM final today and the Nvidia drivers seems to have improved, now when I open pictures in preview they shows properly but when I drag windows around I can see that transparent line in the middle,  which is annoying.

Is anyone any further with the 970?

Did you see this? http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/302429-yosemite-gtx-9xx-compatibility-report/

They seem to be working fine for everyone for the most part, f02 Web drivers work better than f03 for me. HDMI ports aren't working for a lot of people, and Gigabyte cards seem to be the most compatible. The only problem with those cards is that they're really long.
