whether there are other methods of obtaining value nvcap, except the program nvcap maker?

please write them or give references where it is possible to read about it.

my *.rom is added. thx

What do you need the nvcap for?

I have some problems with the browser (safari) and as a whole with smoothing of fonts. Also partially in appstore. Probably and in other separate applications too. But when I disconnect smoothing in system entirely, everything is good.

I assumed that a problem in GraphicsEnabler=No. And now I try to start the video card by means of nvcap and vgabios.rom (GrpahicsEnabler=Yes), but I have only the negative result.

you don't know in what there can be a problem? adce692cf87dfd05f6dd707a57c55e4d.jpeg

[/begin Gringo Brain Dump]

I have the basic model EVGA 660 GTX working with no injection at all....one of the top 3 reasons to buy one of these...I don't think you can use only parts of GraphicsEnabler like you're trying to do.

You could inject NVCAP through DSDT by itself I think, but I don't know if you can load VBIOS without also setting GraphicsEnabler=y, you probably tried that already.

But I think maybe you're heading in the wrong direction with that, as far as I know the purpose of NVCAP is to define the order of ports and which type of signal is available on each port. But the investigation done in this area by Krazubu et al was done back when you could only use two ports simultaneously on OS X. This is no longer true with Kepler cards, so that's probably why the video BIOS is confusing the hell out of NVCAP Maker, which by the way is known to generate wrong NVCAP values anyway.

I have heard of the font smoothing issue before, several times over the years, but this is the first time I've heard of it happening with a 660 GTX, I try to keep up whenever the 660 GTX is mentioned here because there is an issue currently where the card will up core/mem clocks when running Preview or pressing spacebar to preview something, and then the clocks don't drop down again afterwards. It doesn't bother me too much because i have good case cooling but of course power efficiency is out the window.

Try searching the forum (works best with google, our internal search is not very good for some reason) maybe you can find some old topics where the font smoothing issue is discussed.

I think it may have something to do with how your display is recognized by OS X, rather than the video card itself. Especially if it's a HDTV that doesn't properly identify itself as a PC monitor when used as a PC monitor...try another display if you can, just temporarily, to see if the issue goes away.

What output are you using? If using DVI, use the port closest to the motherboard.

There are different types of DVI cable, DVI-D, DVI-I, maybe try another cable? Not sure if it matters but it can't hurt to try.

And try other outputs, even with adapters if you can. Not as a permanent solution, but to see what happens, to troubleshoot the issue.

I have two displays connected, my 660GTX wants primary display on the 1st DVI port (that's where BIOS screens show up), but I want it to be on the Display Port...so with both displays connected, my main display is dark until the desktop appears..same thing on Windows. It would be cool if they let you flick a switch somewhere to let the user decide which port should be the primary..but no, it's hardcoded in the BIOS..

What's your model identifier?

The MacMinix,y model identifier is widely used on Ivy Bridge/Z77 (and similar) and it works fine with IGPU like the HD4000 but it's known to cause graphics anomalies when using discrete graphics, probably because the MacMini doesn't have any. Let me know what chipset and CPU you have and I'll show you how to pick a better model identifier for it, if possible. Can't hurt to try.

TL:DR version:

Try another display

Try another cable (w/adapters)

Try another output

Tell me what CPU and chipset you have

Try another display

Try another cable (w/adapters)

Try another output

My monitor link

I tried other monitor, there is no result. I tried adpter of hdmi, dvi-a, dvi-d (single link) is no result.

Another output, is no result

how your display is connected? dvi-a, dvi-i (dual or single), dvi-d (dual or single)?

According to specs your monitor has DVI-D. Sorry to hear that nothing helped.

I'm uncertain about which model identifier you should use because you're on an AMD platform. I can only guess.

MacPro3,1 is probably still the best to use when you can't have vanilla kernel + native power management, so try MacPro3,1 if you aren't using that already.

Problem in the video card or in drivers. I tried nvidia 9800gtx + (GraphicsEnabler=Yes) and the problem disappeared. But I saw that drivers loaded in system differ.

9800gtx + (NVDAResmanTesla, GeForceTesla, NVDANV50HalTesla)

660gtx (NVDAResman, GeForce, NVDAGK100Hal)

what drivers boot at you in system?

Hi all,

I am facing the same issue, with the same kind of video card (mine is an MSI TwinFrozer Gaming)

NVCAP maker does not show any output string.

I attached my bios.rom I extracted with the nvflash tool.

Could somebody help me to get the NVCAP from by board ?

Hi guys, here is an update on my NVCAP issue :)

As I have a Mavericks partition where my GTX 660 is correctly working, I grabbed the NVCAP from this working environment, using the following command in the terminal:

ioreg -l -w0 | grep NVCAP

And I was able to grab the correct NVCAP from my MSI N660 2GD5/OC   :D

post-405055-0-17610800-1442136114_thumb.png

And the magic value is:  :drool:

050000000000FFFFFFFF00000000000E00000000

With this NVCAP set in my clover.config, I was able to get my second monitior (a 4K/retina one, using the DisplayPort output of the video card) to work.

For information, here is the graphics section of my clover.config

        <key>Graphics</key>
	<dict>
		<key>Inject</key>
		<dict>
			<key>ATI</key>
			<false/>
			<key>Intel</key>
			<false/>
			<key>NVidia</key>
			<false/>

		</dict>
		<key>NvidiaSingle</key>
		<false/>
		<key>NVCAP</key>
		<string>050000000000FFFFFFFF00000000000E00000000</string>
	</dict>

And here the result in About This Mac / Graphics :D
