How to overclock ATI card on Mac OS X

Hello everyone!

I have ATI Mobility Radeon 5850 with standard frequencies 625/800. I did overclocking on Windows and now I have 725/928MHZ(Core/Memory accordingly)

With these frequencies I pass successful Graphics tests such as 3Dmark, MSI Kombuster and games. And got increase of productivity.

I used this formula to calculate necessary frequencies, 725*(800/625)=928.

With 700/1000 I see artifact-stripes on games.

With 800/1000 my card stops working when I start 3DMark.

By the way, are my present frequencies  good(725/928)?

So I decided to began thinking of how we can do the same thing on mac.

Unfortunately, we don't have analogous programs like MSI Afterburner on Mac.

So, in my opinion, the only way to do the same is to take out Vbios and make changes of frequnces by RBE bios editor.

Afterwards. we slip it into bootloader or DSDT.

But, What's next? How can we check it out? There is no similar program such as GPU-Z on Mac as well.

Is there a program or method to watch GPU Clock/Memory CLock?

Is this program only for flashing mod-bioses. I afraid it's to dangerous as I can effortlessly kill my laptop if the vbios is incorrect. So I'd far rather use program-methods of overclocking because if something goes wrong you can do a reboot at any time.

So is there some programs for monitoring frequencies of GPU?

Hi Alex,

Take a look at my topic:

Notice that this is not work on Windows.

I've tried to boot Windows with the patched VBios, my Windows always went into blue screen, even though I reinstalled driver.

Oh, thank you. I am already looking it into
