Hey guys,

Long time lurker. first time poster. still a Noob.


This is my second hackintosh. my first was an old pentium 4 box; it was great to learn on.


for round 2 i went with a custom build

gigabyte gpa-p35-ds3l
9600gt
q6600 processor

i installed osx using this method.

afaik- it simply uses a vanilla kernel


Everything worked perfectly (aside from a REALLY long boot sequence[it loads kexts for EVERYTHING])
the installation of 10.7.1 worked flawlessly, via software update.

last night, I finally got around to downloading and installing 10.7.2...

now, it's broken.

I get through all the kext loading, then on to the back screen and it hangs up.

Make sure your OS X hard drive is plugged into an Intel ICHx SATA port, not a JMicron SATA port. Look in your motherboard manual to find out which ports belong to which controller.
As you can see in the screenshot, the driver for the JMicron SATA controller doesn't load.

okay, after a quick check...

all 4 of my SATA ports run ICH9

I could be wrong but, it appears that the "jmicron" is used only for the parallel port.

My parallel port is currently unused.

just for the heck of it, I unplugged all the SATA connectors except for my osx drive. I still got the same error.

Does anyone have a copy of this jmicron kext? can i get rid of it all together? I don't seem to be using it anyways... maybe mine somehow got corrupted?

Same here. I did clean install of 10.7.2 and it booted ok. Then i installed vga driver (5XX enabler) and my mac keeps rebooting. Then i rebooted with verbose mode and found this msg. Because of this im not sure if its the HDD problem. Try to boot with GraphicsEnabler=No or remove this setting from apple/chameleon boot list or try to backup and remove your vga driver from extensions. Weird but it worked for me.

i seen someone got this massage while overclocking, don't know why it happens but if you do OC, try to run with Default BIOS setting, only change SATA to AHCI, and see if it's still coming up

also, try to do a CMOS Reset, sometime the PC can stuck in unusual states, and sometime, CMOS Reset can help.

it can also happen when you made Mkext for all your S/L/E folder, to the boot cache, this broken since 10.7.2, if you did that or if you haven't. try to move all your Extra Extension to S/L/E (with some kext utility) and boot with "UseKernelCache=Y"

(note that if you try to boot with UseKernelCache=Y without at list FakeSMC.kext on s/l/e, you system will not boot up,
in case you have no way into your system files, and want to try, you can try to do this "UseKernelCache=Y -s" to go into single user mode, and load FakeSMC, in case it got pass the "waiting for root")

I had the same issue after upgrading from 10.7.1 to 10.7.2. Are you using the latest Chameleon version? Updating it solved my problem (as well as the procedure presented here: http://www.insanelym...howtopic=270355).

I'm assuming 2.0 rc5 is the newest? it looks like it came out about a year and a half ago but, it's the newest I can find.

Latest Chameleon Trunk is v2.1 r1723, updated yesterday.

it has come to my attention that i am not even using chameleon...

looks a lot like the stock boot loader...

You cannot use the "stock" boot loader on a PC.

There is much more on the site I linked to than the Chameleon source code but if you don't want to look for it that's your choice.

down at the bottom 1716 appears to be the newest version posted (in this particular location)

however... when i try to install it, the chameleon installer hangs up on "writing package reciept"

i guess i'll try an older version... I'll get back with you guys

I have never used the installer myself, I always compile and install Chameleon manually.
You can find my install guide and latest files over at the VoodooProjects forum - look for a post by me and follow the link in my signature.
I've just uploaded 2.1 svn r1723 over there.

RC5 r1723 is the latest one (just like "Gringo Vermelho" mentioned).
Update to it and add the following option to your boot.plist "UseKernelCache = Yes". If it still doesn't work let us know...

success!!

Suer enough folks... it was the old bootloader.
I'm not so skilled in terminal so, I used the newest GUI installer I could find (r1716?).
First, I just threw the 10.7 HD in my old pentium 4 hackintosh (10.5) and tried to install chameleon to the secondary (10.7) drive. For some reason, that didn't work.
I searched around the house and found an old "snow leopard installer"-flashed USB drive. I was able to install the newest chameleon on that. I was able to boot from that usb, into my 10.7.2 install and everything worked fine.
Once i was successfully booted into 10.7.2 I was finally able to install chameleon on the 10.7 drive.

phew.

thanks for the help guys! There are still afew other things i would like to fix (sleep and proper ethernet drivers) but, I'm scared i'll break something again...
should an auto dsdt patcher fix this? (multibeast?)

Great! I'm glad it worked!
As for the sleep issue, I have done nothing here. It's still working for me just like in 10.7.1. Do you have a dsdt.aml in /Extras?
As for the ethernet driver, make sure to move it (as well as other kernel extensions) from /Extra/Extensions to /System/Library/Extensions. That fixed the ethernet problem I had after updating to 10.7.2.

Are your hard discs set to AHCI in the bios? You could try replacing "AppleAHCIPort.kext" with the one from 10.7.1.

Try to replace the IONetworkingFamily.kext with the previous one from 10.7.1.
