Hello InsanelyMac community,

I am attempting to install Lion so that I may be able to get my 5650 card working. But, I cannot install Lion because of my graphics card!

Screenie: post-638143-1321314431_thumb.jpg

The "ACPI_bla_bla_bla" is not the issue as I have gotten rid of this issue..

The issue is "Device in slot: :SLOT--1" which oddly enough repeats twice (and once it came up three times). Slot 1 is where graphics are or at least from what I have read up on. Other users of the 5650 card could install Lion, why can I not do the same?

For the forum:

Has anyone ever had this problem? Can I do something to get around this problem?

Any suggestions/tips are greatly appreciated.

-Jugz

P.S. Things I have tried:

1. GraphicsEnabler=No -x -f -v cpus=1 AtiConfig=Null,Eulemur,Hoolock,Baboon and several combinations..

Test this:

1 - Boot with -s flag (single user mode)

remove the boot caches:

sudo rm /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kernelcaches/*

2 - Boot with -s flag (single user mode)

mount -uw /

rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/NV*

rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/ATI*

3 - reboot -f -x

Good Luck

Is this for a person with Lion already installed or just booting up from USB drive? Either way, I can only try from the USB at the moment and thank you for a speedy reply.

EDIT: When I boot off USB, with -s, it goes goes through a few screens of text then comes single user mode; in any attempt to type in any text whatsoever, nothing. No text that I type appears. So, no luck with that fix.

Anybody have another idea? Again, I do not have Lion installed yet, only Snow Leo 10.6.3.

Hello Jagz,

I also use a HP Pavilion DV6-6168TX and have a error massage : "Device in slot: :SLOT--1", but i still can finish the first step installation. the error massage meant that our RAM at the slot 1 (Upper Slot of RAM) can't pass the POST, but when i check on the System Profile from the Utility Menu the RAM is in OK status.

And i were using the code: cpus=1 busratio=20 PCIRootUID=0 -v -f, then i can finish first step installation. But after reboot and boot using Lion HDD install i got blank screen only. Until now i just don't know what i must to do about that. Btw, maybe u can use code above mention.

Thx,

Sammy

Sammy,

I tried your boot flags with the exception of busratio=18 for me. Still nothing. Just stalls and hangs like every other time to install.

For everyone now,

If in fact it is a RAM error, should I remove one of my RAM cards? Would this stall be because I have one 2GB ram and another 4GB ram card?

Thanks InsanelyMac community,

Sammy,

I finally was able to install Lion with iAtkos L2. I used cpus=1 AtiConfig=Eulemur maxmem=2048 -v, and it booted in and I installed. I booted up from USB again, then selected OSXRepair as that was where I installed my Lion too, then used flags -v maxmem=2048 cpus=1 AtiConfig=Eulemur and then I get stuck on the attached pic, and it stalls out there. I know that it stalls, because when I hit my "Enter" key, it goes down the page until you cannot see anymore text.

Does anyone have anymore advice?

Again, I have successfully installed Lion, but it will not boot. It just hangs at:

Device in slot: :SLOT--1

Thanks.

Okay artur-pt,

I deleted all graphics kexts in S/L/E and voilà, Lion desktop greets me. Now, I am onto Olaria the link you have posted. Here are the 4 kexts I need and I believe I have edited them correctly but just to make sure, could you look at them for me?

Hello.

My Device ID for ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650M graphics is: 68C1

My Vendor ID is: 1002

I did not know if I needed my sub sys ID in there too… : 144A103C

I edited the Info.plist in ATI5000Controller.kext, ATIX3000.kext, and ATISupport.kext under:

IOKitPersonalities
  Controller (ATI5000)
		  IOPCIMatch 0x68C11002 0x144A103C
  ATIRadeonX3000 (obvious)
		  IOPCIMatch 0x68C11002 0x144A103C
  ATI Support (again, obvious)
		  IOPCIMatch 0x00001002&0x0000FFFF */ADDED THIS:\* 0x68C11002 0x144A103C

Does this look accurate? Correct? Please and thank you.

Been trying to get my ATI to work for a while, and your tips have been very helpful.

EDITED KEXTS FOR 0x68C11002: JugzATIkexts.zip

****************EDIT*******************

I went ahead and installed .kexts and added graphicsenabler=yes and aticonfig=hoolock to org.cham.plist..... DISASTROUS result.

I googled the error and there is seriously NOTHING on this error.

Here is some background: I have NO graphics .kexts at all in /S/L/E/ and then installed ATI5000, ATIX3000, ATISupport, and ATIFramebuffer using Kext Wizard. Just to make sure, I repaired permissions on my partition and then rebooted.

I did -v so I could see what happened, and this is the result:

Has anyone ever even seen this? What can I do to get my graphics card to work?!

I'm sure your FakeSMC.kext is 32-bit. If not, you shouldn't get ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin error. You should be able to boot with arch=i386.

If you want 64-bit fakesmc.kext, please click "Lion" link in my signature & go to 2nd post. Download my Extra file.
