10.8.3. is out.
might try to upgrade to that soon.

I upgraded to 10.8.3 now. All is good.

Only the audio fixes and TRIM enabler needed to be redone for me.

I have updated Chameleon (and fakesmc plugins) to the latest versions as well.

My system feels snappier now, maybe just placebo though. Can anyone confirm possible performance improvements?

Cheers.

Okay, so I installed Mavericks - just to see if it works, and how well it works. Successfully I might add.

I followed this guide:

http://www.insanelym...-install-guide/

I have the latest Chameleon (2.2 r2251)

kozleks FakeSMC and HWSensors https://bitbucket.or...nsors/downloads

lnx2mac's driver for ethernet http://lnx2mac.blogs...osx-driver.html

and these kexts for audio: https://www.dropbox....D3R-ALC889a.zip

Everything seems to be running just fine, but I'm sure there's something missing or in need of tweaking. Where's the fun otherwise ;)

This is my bdmesg:

Fine! I did not try until now cause i read some negative comments about the update somewhere. It's always a stress for me since i have no real backup system and i had quite some times that i had to mess around with single user mode and drivers etc. after an update. Meanwhile 10.8.4. is out already.

I haven't find a AppleHDA patcher for ML yet, altough there should be one now. What AppleHDA version do you have on your 10.8.3 system by the way ?

Okay, so I installed Mavericks - just to see if it works, and how well it works. Successfully I might add.

Great Job! Great News :)

Yeah there should not be any dramatic change to the system itself, only the system softwares are getting updates and new functionalities now. These newest OS X system updates does not seem so big as Leopard or Snow Leopard and Lion were..

I need to get a new hard drive for Mavericks though. So everythinks looks fine then for the fall release.

What AppleHDA version do you have on your 10.8.3 system by the way ?

I have no idea. The kext I linked to in my last post is something I've been using since I guess Lion. But it works great in both ML and Mavericks :-) It enables plug detection, microphone and everything even optical should work, haven't tried that though.

I would prefer a native solution though, but haven't played around with dsdt edits for a while. If you have a solution for that, I'd be grateful.

By the way, any idea on why I might have some USB-related problems? My USB-sticks sometimes get disconnected, some ports don't function reliably etc.

Yeah, there was a great patcher for Snow Leopard which patched every new AppleHDA.kext for this specific soundcard. Which does not work anymore for Lion and up. Although there was some saying they are working on it..

I am using a Snow Leopard version AppleHDA too. It works, but a newer one would be nice.

Have no idea. I did not notice anything like that. Is it on Mountain Lion ?

Only place it might be fixed is in DSDT i guess.

Upgraded to 10.8.3

Could not boot again.

Only to Safe Mode.

I could upgrade to 10.8.4. from there

still no booting

only to safe mode. otherwise freeze or reboot.

iousb, applertc, applehda, mbsensors, fakesmc kernel panics

reverted to older fakesmc. removed applehda and hdaenabler

i have no graphics hardware acceleration in safe mode, no sound(even with older kext), only networking works, and installing stuff..

tryed to downgrade to 10.8.2 but installer does not revert.

now downloading 10.8.4 combo update. maybe that works ?

by the way 10.8.3 and 10.8.4 installers both reported "installation failed" instead of succeded.

although files got updated, there was some error. but i cannot know what. if that would verbose something at least...

Ooooook. Finally fixed it. 10.8.4 running. No more problems with Console, Quicktime and Reminders.

I had to revert again to an older AppleAPCIPlatform.kext in order to boot the system normally.

Interesting, that you had no such problems as it looks xopher.

I will give some more details about my config. It looks like we have some differencies.

I cannot use newest FakeSMC. It cause kernel panic at boot. So i copied back an old one..

What version of Chameleon are you running?

Edit: I just updated to the latest FakeSMC, and got greeted with a panic :) Don't know what's up, but after reverting to the older one it works again. I might try to reinstall it without the plugins, to see if I can narrow it down more.

Chimera 2.1

it was 1.something for long time, but i updated it a few weeks ago.

Yes, there is definietly something wrong with the new fakesmc. I guess the plugins. MbSensors got renamed to LPC and so on.

I was thinking of removing the plugins one by one to see which one is causing the problem.

The old ones were working fine though, so why would we need the newest anyway..

10.8.5. is out!

i have serious problems now with Safari on 10.8.4.

Had multiple rude crashes with certain sites.

The whole GUI collapsed! Total freeze! Very crazy.

Will post some screenshots soon.

I have a small hope it won't happen in 10.8.5. but i have my doubts.

Note to self: when you upgrade in the future, please consider simply using ##### instead of jumping through thousands of loops to get sound working again.

Or, save the kext(s) in question for future use and/or upgrades ;)

Any progress with Mavericks guys?

actually the last time i downloaded a file from that site, that killed my snow leopard system, and i had to reinstall it.

it was a 'proven' dsdt for my mobo, same bios version. after boot it said "pci configuration begin" and started doing something with my hard drive for long seconds.

i became angry and pushed the reset button. the system did not boot anymore. and the filesystem got so corrupted that even disk utility could not repair it. files and folders were inaccessible and lost.

but i checked that updater package application now, and found that it has a Realtek AppleHDA patcher for Mountain Lion. so i will try only that in the next days. It's called toleda patcher if i remember right..

Any progress with Mavericks guys?

I was looking around today about Mavericks, and found some useful things.

There is already a nice golden master usb installer image made by a spanish guy(i guess  ^_^), Olarila. I used his Mountain Lion image for the last install already.

Also there is a new bootloader called Clover (which is default on that installer). I have read into that and it looks very cool and advanced.

They say if you your system runs Mountain Lion, it should run easily Mavericks too.

So everything looks okay for now. There are some small problems like ML AppleHDA kexts not working anymore, but there seem to be new patching methods listed at the Clover bootloader already. I would start to put it on now, but i need a new drive/partition. I won't delete my ML install to drop Mavericks on that..

So i am trying to get a new Hard Disk or SSD before. Ah yeah, and i need a USB Flash drive too  :(

Ok so i won't post any screenshots now, cause my system killed itself. Mother{censored}ing weak fragile vulnerable {censored} HFS file system once again !

It took me one day to boot into windows cause the bootloader was on that HFS partition too. And now its the 5th day i am suffering with RAM errors. I had about 120 BSODs in these days.

My old RAM settings suddenly just don't work. It was stable on 2.2 Volt(2x2Gb Geil PC8500). Now its only running on 1.92 Volt, but still not stable. On every other Voltage settings its more worse.

Running memtest and prime95 so angry about this whole thing. I could not recover any {censored} file from that HFS partition yet. Although there is a software which shows the folders it {censored} saving files.

Application folder and System folder gone for sure. Disk Utility is the {censored}. Tried to recover the partition with that it only made it worse. So freakin upset now. I am loosing my patience.

Oh yeah, it was because i was trying out sleep mode on ML. On wake up it cleared the CMOS. And my RAM settings gone. Everything was on AUTO, and was working, now nothing works.

Very dissapointed.

Very busy two weeks behind me. It took me 10 days to find new stable working settings for my -as it looks like slightly damaged- memory modules. I was getting losing hope on that.

I also managed to repair my Windows bootloader after trying many methods out, and finally i was able to recover all the needed files from my Mountain Lion HFS partition. This way i did not need a new partition since ML killed itself.. So i bought a USB Flash Drive, collected all the kexts and tools that was likely to be needed, took a deep breath and started installing Mavericks.

After two days, i am nearly there. System is running fine. I have some minor issues, but nothing serious. I am still using Flash Drive to boot into Mavericks, but i will install Clover to my Hard Drive in the next days. Configuring it was not so easy, but i managed it with some work. Now it really looks a bit more advanced than Chameleon/Chimera. When i am finished with everything, i will make a small GUIDE about installing Mavericks for UD3LR. There are lot of tweaks needed for my taste which are not always OSX86 related. Such as turned off Key Repeating, Automatic Saving of editing documents (!) and other weird things which are present on 10.9.
