Unfortunately not. Apple did a great job to keep us away from using Wifi on Lion. Or is it really just my machine?

Well, why are two of the Atheros cards working in Snow Leopard then?

I no longer have my previous Atheros 9285 installed. So I can't say.

At the moment I am trying out an original Apple AirPort card, possibly from a MacBook Pro2,2 or 2,3

Atheros Device/Vendor ID: 168C, 24

is supported by Atheros plugin kexts

I tried a few different approaches such as DSDT editing, completle fresh install of DP4, a.s.o., but the situation doesn't change much. The following errors like:

6/8/11 5:57:38.246 PM com.apple.launchd: (com.apple.configd[269]) Job appears to have crashed: Segmentation fault: 11

still show up in the console and during that time the machine is nearly unresponsive. Only deactivating Wifi helps.

I might add. When activating Wifi my two ethernet ports turns from red (diconnected) to yellow (connected to a machine but now IP address). This is really odd to. It shouldn't turn its color except the Wifi device which changes to yellow and never gets green (which is pretty obviously in my case :(

I have now auto connect and no lags without deleting Apple80211Monitor.bundle. You just need to add SMboard id to SMBIOS plist. Thank you nawcom for the tip.

Here for iMac10,1

<key>SMboardproduct</key>
<string>Mac-F2268CC8</string>

I had this EXACT same problem. I have a Broadcom card, but I'm on 10.6.8, not Lion. I finally got to updating my backup install to 10.6.8, so I don't mess my good one up, and realised it was SUPER slow. I did some searching and found configd was crashing every 5 seconds. So I found this thread, and saw this tip. I tried it, nothing. Then I switched out the Apple80211Monitor.bundle for the 10.6.7 one, and it works perfectly. Wifi connects and shows me how strong the signal is and everything.

I had the same issue with my broadcom.

I found a solution. In my case problem was the file: /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/Apple80211Monitor.bundle

I renamed it to Apple80211Monitor.bundle_ Just make sure, it won't load.

No need to remove kext caches.

System works much faster, and WiFi started working.

I have no idea what this file does...

This helped me, too. Thanx a lot! :thumbsup_anim:
