Hi Everyone!.

:PI'm very happy cuz, I've installed successfully Snow Leopard 10.6 Retail DVD and Upgrade to 10.6.2 from Apple Software Update with Empire EFI.

On My ACER Aspire 3680-2367 :)

The Kexts that I Have on my "Extra/Extensions" folder is:

AHCIPortInjector.kext

AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext

ATAPortInjector.kext

fakesmc.kext

FrameBufferDisabler.kext

IOACPIFamily.kext

IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext

IOATAFamily.kext

IOAudioFamily.kext----------------- VoodooHDA Dependencies

IONetworkingFamily.kext---(For the AppleYukon 2 --Modified Info.plist value 0x436211AB to 0x435211AB)

IOPCMCIAFamily.kext ------------ For Make it work Internal mini-Pci-e Wifi Broadcom 4311bxg (AirPort)

IOSDHCIBlockDevice.kext ---- For SD, XD,memory Stick Pro Internal card reader

LegacyAppleRTC_32bit_only.kext

NullCPUPowerManagement.kext

OpenHaltRestart.kext ----- for the Shutdown & Restart super fast

PlatformUUID.kext

VooDooHDA.kext - for the Sound Card ;D

VoodooPS2Controler.kext -------- For the Internal PS2 Keyboard (Inside has VoodooPS2Trackpad.kext for the Trackpad)

All Works very very well!!!, Wifi, Battery,Sound,Webcam,Keyboard,TRackpad.

But I'm working with a External Monitor plugged to the VGA Connector, cuz the Internal Display doesn't work.

Anybody how can I solve this???.

Please.

Thanks.

P.D. Here is the config of my Com.apple.boot.plist:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

A few questions...

1. Has OSX ever shown up on your internal LCD (in 10.5.x, or during setup)?

2. Is the display blank or blue-screened? Is the backlight on or off?

3. Are you using a DSDT?

4. Why on earth do you have so many kexts? lol...

Also, I'm betting your internal LCD can't display that Graphics Mode.

Could I please ask you to post a zip of your Extra/Extensions . There are so many versions around that it gets confusing, and finding the right ones difficult.

Thanks in Advance

ok first off its not your monitor secondly its ur drivers i have a gma960 id2772 on a shuttle x50 i get full res the whole thing

except my internal monitor stays blue and i have to use and external im worken on the problem but no luck what so ever so far

catch me on aim tsm1248 if you have any questions about the issue or any luck with it

I solved the Poblem, If any more have the same problem.

Just Adding Natit.kext on /System/Library/Extensions

and SMBIOSEnabler.kext on /Extra/Extensions.

And You can Use Internal Display with QE/CI & In the External Display QE/CI all resollutions.

But, you cannot use Mirrored Mode, It crash, with a lot of lines in both screens. This is fizable with deleting windowserver.plist and I cant remember wich other file.

If you want to disable Main monitor, for get Desktop in the External Monitor, I Use SwitchRESX, that allows me power off main monitor or external monitor.

But I have a doubt, Does anyone knows a free alternative to SwitchResX???.

Thanks

I'd love if you could write a guide on how you got snow leo installed on your 3680. I've been trying for a solid 3 days now, and I keep getting kernel panics etc. Ive read that quite a few people have gotten it worked perfectly on the 3680, but I'm definitely not one of them.

Well I Installed Snow Leopard RETAIL, Not any kind of distros like iDeneb, SnowOSXUniversal.

Its pure Retail installation!.

How Do I Do?

Simple, first of all you may need:

1) a Copy of Empire EFI 1.0.7(choose the version that prevents "Still waiting for root Device").

You can download it from Prasys Blog.

2) Get a Snow retail Leopard Disk.

3) Put the Empire EfI's DVD on the drive and boot it, once booted, eject the cd and put the Snow Leopard DVD Installer.

Follow the steps, Install and voila!!!

Once finished to install, boot again with Empire EfI's disk.

Get inside to /Post_Installation folder, and install MyHack Installer.mpkg.

Reboot with your new Snow Leopard from DVD like an Original mac.

Then I'll give you the Kexts properly to make work all devices right.

Hope that helps

Cool, I got as far as you told me, Snow Leo is up and running now, but only when I plug in a external monitor. I could use some kexts for ethernet, video, wifi (my card is supposedly supported natively on Snow Leopard, but I just need to enable the PCI-E port with IOPCIFamily.kext right?) Anything else that I need? thanks a ton.

You have the vanilla AppleIntelIntegratedFrameBuffer.kext? Take the other Outputs from your DSDT and leave the build in LCD only.

Mind explaining how to do this? Last time I was in the scene, 10.5.7 and Chameleon RC2 has just come out.

Generete DSDT with DSDT Patcher, post the generated DSDT.aml

It generated a DSDT.dsl file, not .aml. Heres the file it generated though:

Edit: My bad, I force compiled it, and this is what it spit out:

dsdt.zip

Laptop?

It worked! Thank you riws. My external monitor plug is disabled using this, but I dont care. Now all I need is Sound, SD reader, Ethernet and Wifi and I'm set! Also, I have the keyboard working with ApplePS2Controller.kext from Empire EFI, but the trackpad doesnt work. And I can't seem to get VoodooPS2Trackpad to work. Any ideas?

Voldemort: Could you please upload your entire /Extra/Extensions folder somewhere? If you already got all of this working, it would really save me some troubleshooting.

EDIT: I managed to get everything working except for the SD card reader, and sound.

Delete AppleHDA.kext and install VoodooHDA.

SD Reader is a PCI Controller, ENE?

Thanks, I'll try that now. I didn't realize you had to delete AppleHDA first. the SD reader is tied to the PCMCIA slot on these laptops, but the OP says he used IOSDHCIBlockDevice.kext to get his working. I tried the one from sourceforge, but it didn't change anything.

EDIT: excellent, the VoodooHDA works fine after deleting AppleHDA.

heylo! i'm trying to install SL 10.6 on my girlfriend's Aspire 3680.

i found some Extensions via a YouTube video. crazy i know.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ud8yuKT-GnI

these are the kexts i have in my Extra folder:

AHCIPortInjector.kext

ATAPortInjector.kext

AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext

IOATAFamily.kext

OpenHaltRestart.kext

PlatformUUID.kext

SleepEnabler.kext (actually disabled - caused kernel panics)

VoodooBattery.kext

VoodooHDA.kext

VoodooPS2Trackpad.kext

fakesmc.kext (v2.5)

i am having the same issues as the person above with regards to video.

so installing natit is the answer?

also, the keyboard and trackpad aren't working. ethernet and wireless are not as well.

i've repaired the permissions and used kext utility on the Extensions folders.

i'm booting with Chameleon RC4 and Netkas' PC-EFI 10.6.

does the Empire EFI have something different going on.

i do not have a DSDT.aml in place. can anyone provide one for me?

thanx!

sir demon
