ultimeus
I contact Eddy from EK watercooling, he accept to sponsor me, I'm really happy and want to thanks him because this is my first worklog. Tomorrow big update, I play all the afternoon with bondo, some parts are modded and painted with filler.
bofors
I see you are taking the Lian Li tray approach, I had thought about that too. I hope that somebody starts selling ATX-modified (ready) PowerMac Cases or kits to do it right. I would probably pay good money for some perfect conversions, but I would probably want the original cases uncut.
ultimeus
I wanted a 120 mn fan on my mod, best way was to use this lian li plate, if you want the easiest mod, mac pro case need less modding.
ultimeus
Hard drive rack prepared for some modding (3 to 2 hard drives) Integration of apple psu hole backside superior side, there was an hole in the upper side, I cut a little plate from aluminium and filled with bondo. Rack drive modded and prepared with filler. Back motherboard tray finished Painted I'm not very happy with paint, it doesn't look professional, kind of plastic texture and don't match apple grey. Since I had planed to repaint the case ( to much little dents, and color dismatch because smoking) soon, I've ask a friend who work in a paint garage to respray all the parts. For not having to cut the case, it's possible to use the original ports openings, with matching ports connected to the motherboard connectors or mobo pinouts. Having produced a PCB with all the ports correctly aligned, aswell as the cables towards the mobo, would be an great savior. I did comething close with a part from an actual G5 mobo, but soldering so small sucks, and for now I've only done the sound and USB. BTW, ultimeus, I like your Mac Pro style placement of the large fan. Alu / metalic spray paints aren't very good in general.. fragile and smudges at touch. Would sand blastig be an option? Else, plain grey paint could be nice. Would match the style of the internal plastic parts.
ultimeus
Thanks pirloui , one of my condition I wanted a 120 mn fan Surfing on internet for some days I didn't find any exact info on apple grey, but it seems to be a powder coating or anodizing. I let front dvd bezel to my friend painter, he is going to try to find the "same" color, of course texture would be a little different. I don't use any plastic internal parts for this mod
