Hello Everybody,

I am a new user of this blog and I would appreciate any help with this project!

I am in the advertising business. I have purchased 10 Original G3 iMacs 333 MHz (Revision D) with (Tray Loading CD). I have asked 10 businesses in my community to host 1 computer each on their business premesis. I will then use these computers to display advertising.

THE PROBLEM?

I work another job at the moment so I will visit each business location out of business hours. I will set the computers to startup 1 hour out of business hours. I want to pull up outside the business in my car, connecting to the computer wirelessly using a MAC OS9 laptop and update the computer advertising files.

WHAT I HAVE TRIED?

1) Bluetooth would have been a great solution but MAC OS9 doesn't support bluetooth!

2) A broadband and Static IP address solution is too expensive?

Can I use wireless USB Dongles? Any other suggestions welcome?

as far as I know bluetooth does work on OS9, only problem is you'd need bluetooth adaptors for each machine - I know that the DBT-120 used to work.

But I seem to remember that I using a generic bluetooth adaptor on os9 with one of my old nokia phones fromthat era...

hope this helps

BELKIN F5D6050 USB WLAN ( supports WEP 64 and 128.

I used it on OS9.2x , OSX ( 10.0 up ), Windows 95-ME ,NT4-XP, and in Vista :)

the only downthing on OS9 is you need to plug it out before shutdown and replug before you boot again, at least thats what I experienced on an imac G3 and a PM G4.

On Vista Windows Update even offered new drivers for the device..

Software and PDF Manuals are available online on Belkins Site.

you get them on ebay for around 5-10 €

You need some D-link DWL 122 usb wireless adapters. There are Mac airport adapters out there. Finding the OS9 software is the problem.

I have a BondiBlue iMac with OS9 and the DWL 122, but any ideas where to get the drivers for it? It is simply not recognized in OS9 and D-Link does not officially support it.

Ideas?
