This board seems to have very similar stats to the GA-EP45-DS3R.

For those having issues with the AHCI try this (posted on page three of the GA-EP-45-DS3R thread):

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=33896

After the install repair disk permissions and boot with -f. See if that works.

Also try the Boot 132 posted on page 9.

that links to a download, not a thread.

I did find the thread though, its right here:

Question: That boot132 iso, once I install it to the HD, do I have to boot using the CD everytime? I'm a little unclear on how that works.

Download and install chameleon. Then delete the boot file in the root of your drive, and replace it with the boot file in the ISO. Then copy the extensions folder into the Extras folder on the root of your OSX drive. The extensions folder is hiding in the initrd inside the iso. Clear enough? It is really easy. That makes it a Bot 132 DFE, if you do some searching on that subject it should make things clearer...

Nevermind, figured it out, it was my NVInject.kext file.

Hyper, what did you use to get your 8600GT running? I don't want to use nvinstaller since i'm putting all my kexts in a separate EFI partition.

How can i get a generic com.apple.Boot.plist so that I can add EFI Strings to the EFI partition?

Ok, finally up and running.

Boot-132 using grub-dfe.iso

Ethernet: oob

Sound: working using http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=129058

Video: EFI string for 8800GT

AHCI: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=37284

Still no sleep. The computer simply shuts down.

Switched the suspend type in the bios from S3 to S1 and sleep now works.

There's a lot of other settings, which i'm not entirely sure of what they do.

Little quick and mini guide based on what I did, there could be better options.

Using boot-132, which lets you boot an image with custom kexts. This lets you boot a clean copy of leopard (or a stock leopard install cd)

The boot-132 img that i used is this one: http://www.mediafire.com/?l0wizjmfymn

Boot with this, when you get to the grub boot screen, select DVD Loader. Once that finishes loading, swap CDs and boot from a stock leopard install DVD.

Install as you would regular leopard. Format disk as GPT.

This leaves you with a completely clean leopard install, but no way to boot it unless you use the cd bootloader.

To remedy this, you can install chameleon or any other bootloader. I chose to follow this guide:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=127330

This loads up your custom kexts to your hidden EFI partition, allowing you to keep your leopard install as clean as possible.

Custom kexts:

-The ones supplied in the grub-dfe image (they are in the in the intrd.img on the iso)

-for ACHI: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=37284

-for sound (The ALC889 Beta drivers) http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=129058

If there are any problems after updates, boot with the -x -v -f flags, it should restart and work fine afterwards.

Sleep is still a problem, I switched the suspend type from S3 sleep to S1 sleep in the bios, which works, but its not true sleep.

I am using a 8800GS so no experience with a 8600GT ;\

Newest god damn bios, STILL does not let you disable jmicron when ACHI is enabled...

This bios is a mess ;\

Also sound is STILL destroyed when waking from S3 sleep... so it's best to stick with S1 till there is a fix for that.

I know I know, I will post my setting, I had hoped to fix the audio... and am still stuck with USB audio...

Gonna start fresh with a Boot 132 Install I think here soon...

So many small issues. If hot swapping and audio can be sorted out... this is gonna be the new King of Mobo's. Seriously!!!

Slap a firewire card in, and you have a Mac Pro Mini! We are so close ;\

I figured out the graphics issue. 8800GT is now working great.

Are you just trying to hot-swap internal SATAs using bays? I don't exactly know what your setup is like, but if you tell me a little more maybe I can help you on my end.

Why do you want to disable JMicron?

I will try to get my S3 sleep working, then I'll run more tests.

Yes I am trying to use a hotswap bay, as well as rear hot swapping on a rear panel plug... esata there.

Jmircon is worthless, buggy, and I dont use IDE. I dont need it so I want it off ;P

S3 Sleep WORKS This is a given. I USE IT... but it will mess up your audio if you use onboard audio. There is no work around for it yet. It took me about 2 hours to find the settings to get it work, but yes it DOES work. It's just a couple of touch things. I will try to take a pic of my power management tonight, but its gotten a bit late so it may slide a day.

STEP CLOSER TO HOT SWAP!

I have quasi hot swapping now of hard drives.

It's usable but not even close to what I had. I can now eject a disc no problem, and it stop spinning. I can remove it and replace it with another NO PROBLEM. It does not auto mount though. I have to go into disc utility. The old disc will still show ejected. If I simply click to mount the partition it will freeze for about 45 seconds... *beach ball* and then gives a mount error. It will then mount the drive... though the old drive is displayed, the partition and mount points are correct. I have tried this on about 5 drives of 3 different sizes and it all work. THIS is not ideal, but it work.

The drive will still show up as the old drive, in profiler and disc utility. It doesn't know a drive has been swapped. It will still show 1TB even if a 500 gig disc has been placed in. Finder though knows what it is correctly, naming the drive correct and ejecting it correct. It shows the proper free space in finder *just not profiler or disc utility*

This still works even after sleep. So we are about 50% of the way there. Once hot swap is working, then all that will be left is sound *which still dies a painful death when you wake from s3, but works ok in s1 sleep*. We can then make a proper boot 132 disc and this will become a premier board!

Then I froze waking from sleep this morning ;\ God dammit!

I think there is a small USB issue... sometimes I need to unplug and plug in the mouse to make it work.

It froze founding my mouse this morning. ;\ Back to more setting changes.

I have a feeling that the answer to some of this boards problem lies in here :

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=133683&hl=

Maybe with some more tweaking in the DSDT .

I already tried the patcher and the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement loads without any problems. ;)

For someone with some knowledge in DSDT modding it will be possible to find a solution to Sleep,USB Issues etc.
