xtraa
This program is a definitive keep-in-the-dock app On hackintosh, especially AMD-users expereinced many difficulties to share their iTunes library via the LAN. The reason is a faulty daap/Appletalk interface. Now, Simplify-Media takes the whole iTunes streaming and media sharing to the next level: The freeware enables you to share your complete music library and your playlists over the internet, AND it works for Winamp, too. It runs with Windows, OSX and experimental with Linux. Also, you can add up to 30 friends, to share their music with yours. Check it out here: http://www.simplifymedia.com/download.html I love it What I wasn't able to test now, is if there is a communicaton between Winamp and iTunes. that would just blow me away. maybe s.o. can test if this will work, too? cmdshft
Make sure to also label for iPod touch. Back in college, I was able to make a SHOUTcast server and stream into iTunes, but I was never able to reverse the process...
Software Updater
Or you could use Hamachi and set iTunes to share music over LAN and then invite as many friends as you want to Hamachi. i understand that Hamachi can be a tad difficult to setup in OS X but I wanted to put that out there as an alternative. Thanks for the news Xtraa.
paul_simplifymedia
@xtraa, thanks for the great write-up! we are very glad you like the program. To answer your question, yes. On my PC with Winamp, I can play your iTunes library and playlists - and you can play my Winamp playlists and even my wma files (if I had any) on your Mac. We have tried to make it as easy as possible for people to share (no VPNs, no port-forwarding, no worries about music format, etc). @hara, thanks for noticing If anyone has a question, drop us a line at support at simplify media. sarahbau
I wish Apple hadn't removed the Internet Sharing from iTunes. Most people might not remember it since it was only part of iTunes from 4.0 to 4.01, but I used to use it every day at work. They removed it because people found out a way to copy songs from other peoples' computers.

sarahbau
...which you can still do. >.> Care to enlighten us as to how you can share iTunes libraries over the internet, not a LAN using nothing but iTunes on either computer? That feature was removed almost 5 years ago.
