Voodoo projects community reminder

Tienneke

logoVoodoo projects requests, in a recent and quite defensive news post on their site, that third party kernels based on their source code be named differently.

The request is to both users as coders. Voodoo does not provide support for kernels compiled by other people. Since the naming of the third party kernels is often the same as the original name of the voodoo projects, they get a lot of support requests for kernels they don't use.

So first of all they ask coders to change the kernel version. Instead of reporting 'voodoo kernel 1.1' it should be an own kernel, stating it is based on the voodoo kernel.

Secondly, they request end users to direct their support to the coder of the kernel they use, and not to voodooprojects itself.

How can you see wether you're running a third party kernel or not? If you execute uname -A in a terminal, it should be compiled in IST time zone. All kernels not compiled in IST time zone are not made by the voodoo team.
