ok, it was a simple newb mistake.

I had two drives, one with 10.4.3 on it, and a blank drive for 10.4.4. So I install 10.4.4, all goes ok. then I unplug the 10.4.3 drive and try to boot the 10.4.4 one, and I get the "waiting for boot device" thing... "strange" methinks, I included the IOATA.kext, why doesn't it boot.

Well, it didn't boot because I still had the drive set up on the second IDE port, and set as slave. Stupid newb mistake (that I put down to trying to do this at 4am when I should have been asleep if I had any sense).

Plugged the drive into the first IDE port and made it master, and then it booted.

Sometimes, its the simplest of things that get overlooked :sorcerer:
