bedrock
Hi all, I have the 10.4.4 install dvd that is floating around, and i have burned it and booted with it, and it all seems ok. Now i want to setup a dual boot system with XP, i had previously done this with 10.4.1 and 10.4.3 using the chain0 file and the boot.ini from Windows XP. Does the 10.4.4 install DVD put the correct Darwin boot loader on the hard disk, or do i need a 10.4.3 DVD to do that, i've read a few posts that say not to use the disk utility in the 10.4.4 install dvd to create partitions, os i have created a partition in windows and set it's type to 0xAF, i'm ready to install, but i dont want to hose my windows partition, any advise? thanks in advnace -- bedrock Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/9970-1044-dual-boot/ Share on other sites

urig-herb
im using the old chain0, with no problems I also tried the chain0 method, but I had an infinite loop. XP bootloader starts Darwin bootloader and then back to XP bootloader. Does someone know how to change the default booting device in darwin boot loader? Since I found no solution I installed Acronis boot loader 10. It works fine, but a lot slower than the native boot loaders. It takes like 20-30 seconds to start the default OS.
