whereismymind
Hi, I use macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.dmg with JaS.1111a.Generic.Patch.V4.2b.ppf (i made an ISO file and then burn it). Everything seems to be fine, i choose an partition, install starts, then failed after the first step of the installation. I get the same message all the time (something like install failed, plz retry) I have a: Pentium4 Prescott (SSE3) 3.0Ghz Asus P4P800 E-Deluxe PATA HD Should I use another patch ? or another version (or file) of Mac OX ? jbjonas
What you have is the best version so far, in my humble opinion. First, I would post the exact error message here (take a picture if you can). Also - did you check the md5 sums of your patched .iso before you burned it? check my post here for the correct checksums. jbjonas
If it's not the media, and it works fine on another machine, another option, is it could be the Drive you are reading it with. Most of the time I have seen this problem with laptops, or DVD-Rom drives with poor support for DVD-R or +R. (I think that general consensus is that RW DVD's are troublesome with this application...) whereismymind
Maybe it has something to do with my DVD Drive (Sony DRU-810A) cause i get an error message before install when the DVD is scanned to detect errors on the DVD itself.... I checked the MD5, everything's ok... I'll try to uncheck everything and i let you know. Thx for ur help. amsm
Hi, I'm seeing the same problem. When I view the log, it seems to be failing during the preflight script. It tries to cd into /Volumes/mydisk/System/Library/LaunchDaemons and fails. It then tries a few other files and also fails, before it actually give up completely. My DVD drive is a Samsung SM308 DVD-ROM If I open up the Terminal, those files are visible on the DVD (mounted under /), but yeah, they're not there on /Volumes/mydisk Looks like something is either not copying the files across, or pointing the installer to the wrong directory. I'm using the Myz 10.4.5 iso Can anyone offer any advice ? I'm going to see what happens if I copy the entire /System directory across to /Volumes/mydisk, but I don't know if this will do any good. amsm
Hi merkosh found an solution ? tried to make an symbolic link named mydisk to the dvd ?or is mydisk the installation partition ? where can i find the installation log ? Nope, I haven't found a solution. mydisk is the install partition (entire disk, this machine is planned to be OSX only) The log is viewable from the "Windows" menu option in the GUI installer. It also shows up when the thing fails. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/9909-install-starts-then-failed/#findComment-93140 Share on other sites

Works fine, although the onboard NIC, audio and PS2 don't work, with a kext problem. Hopefully I can solve that. I have a3com (3c509b ?) nic in there and that's fine. Damian
It also works if you just update your firmware of your DVD drive. In most cases, that failure is fixed. Mebster
That's a bit risky though, isn't it? But where would you get the latest firmware anyway? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/9909-install-starts-then-failed/#findComment-94120 Share on other sites
